Job Description

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks an Anesthesia Tech for their Anesthesiology department responsible for rendering direct and indirect patient care under direction of Anesthesia RN and/or Anesthesiologist. Facilitates care to meet patient’s needs by providing clerical and physical support while assisting licensed personnel in management of critically ill patients. Assists with workflow of unlicensed assistive personnel in the department. Anesthesia Tech is part of hiring process for new techs. Anesthesia Tech oversees all orientation and preceptorship of new anesthesia techs. Responsible for completion of all orientation paperwork and getting it submitted on time to the Manager. Tech collaborates with CNC in department. Tech is expected to remain competent with all skills and able to teach skills to other techs and do remedial training when asked. Tech is expected to assist with coverage of sick calls when all other options have failed, and the OR acutely needs coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

All job qualifications listed indicate the minimum level necessary to perform this job proficiently.

Education:

  • Preferred: High school diploma.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Minimum: American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Preferred: California Emergency Medical Technician certification or California Emergency Medical Technician – Paramedic Certification.

Technical Requirements:

  • Minimum: Knowledge of Materials Management Information Systems and computerized inventory control systems.

Years of Related Work Experience:

  • Minimum: 1 year of experience as a Patient Care Tech or equivalent experience in an acute care, Emergency Department or pre-hospital setting such as an Ambulance EMT.
