Veterinary Anesthesia Nurse (Buzzards Bay, MA) Monday through Friday, 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Pay range: $22 to $32/hr, commensurate with experience, credentials, skillset, longevity, and schedule At Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists (CCVS), we are passionate about providing exceptional specialty and emergency care, and we are looking for a skilled, adaptable veterinary nurse to join our team in a unique anesthesia-focused float role. Based primarily in Buzzards Bay, MA, this position offers the opportunity to work with multiple departments while continuing to grow your knowledge and refine your technical skills in a collaborative, specialty setting. About this roleAs part of the surgery team, you will play an important role in supporting procedures across the hospital through anesthesia. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and has a strong interest in anesthesia and patient safety. In this role, you will primarily provide anesthesia support for procedures in different departments, including endoscopy, otoscopy, advanced imaging such as CT, ultrasound-guided procedures, and other diagnostic or specialty interventions. You will work closely with specialists and nursing teams throughout the hospital to help ensure patients receive attentive, high-quality care before, during, and after anesthesia. This is a great opportunity for a veterinary nurse who enjoys working with a wide range of cases and wants to build strong experience across multiple specialties. Responsibilities and Functions

  • Provide anesthesia support for procedures across various departments within the hospital
  • Assist with anesthetic induction, monitoring, recovery, and patient care throughout the procedure timeline
  • Work closely with specialists and nursing teams to support safe, efficient procedural flow
  • Prepare patients for anesthesia, including obtaining diagnostics and completing treatments as directed
  • Monitor patients carefully during sedation and anesthesia, recognizing trends and responding appropriately
  • Support pre-, intra-, and post-procedural care for a wide variety of cases
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and prepare anesthesia and monitoring equipment
  • Document patient information accurately and thoroughly
  • Adapt to changing caseloads and help where needed throughout the hospital
  • Assist with training and supporting team members as needed
  • Bring a calm, positive, team-oriented approach to a dynamic specialty environment

Schedule, Compensation, and Benefits

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 12:00 pm to 8:00 pm
  • The initial training schedule may differ from the permanent shift
  • Sign-on bonus up to $2,500
  • Pay range starts at $22/hr and goes up to $32/hr, based on experience, credentials, skillset, and schedule

Required Qualifications

  • One or more years of veterinary anesthesia, surgery, or procedural nursing experience
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia monitoring, analgesia, and patient support
  • Ability to work across departments and adjust to changing daily needs
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and restrain pets weighing at least 50 pounds and remain on your feet for much of the day

Preferred Qualifications

  • CVT, RVT, or LVT, or ability to obtain within six months, strongly preferred
  • Advanced anesthesia experience preferred
  • VTS in Anesthesia and Analgesia preferred, or interest in pursuing advanced training welcomed
  • Experience working in a specialty or emergency setting is a plus
