Universal Music UK is looking for an Analytics and Insights Lead to become part of our UK central data,AIand technology team. The role offers a unique opportunity to join us at the start of a new chapter, where we are looking to grow & expand on the foundation of workwe’vealready begun.

The role is perfect for a candidate that is passionate about music, data,AIand technology and has a thirst foracquiring,analysingand communicating knowledge through data. In a creative organisation such as ours, reducing a complex problem into something simple is key, so any experience managing stakeholders, shapingquestionsand translating data into clear insight would also be a strength.

Alongside this, you willbe responsible forhelping our labels use data and insight to make better strategic decisions. You will work closely with label teams to understand their priorities, gatherrequirementsand translate business questions into clear analytical briefs for the wider data team. Working closely with senior and junior analysts, data scientists, engineers, productmanagersand business teams, you will help shape compelling narratives around artist,audienceand market performance. Aswe’refirst and foremosta data,AIand technology team, you should be comfortable working with data, technicalteamsand modern analytics tools, while also being able to present insight clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

As part of the central data, AI and technology team,you’llhave a chance to work closely with AMS, frontline labels, our catalogue division UMR, and all other central teams, as well as data and technology teams within thewider business. This includes acting as a key voice for the team on the label floor, helping ensure our insight, reporting and strategic projects are closely aligned to label needs.

Key Responsibilities

Core responsibilities include:

  • Working as part of the Data & AI team, partnering closely with labels to supportartistsand acting as one of two senior voices with a focus on label strategy, stakeholderrelationshipsand insight storytelling.

  • Acting as a senior Data & AI voice for the labels, helping lead data strategy and ensuring insight work is aligned to label priorities.

  • Building strong relationships with label teams to understand priorities, gather requirements and shape clear analytical briefs for the wider Data & AI team.

  • Supporting core strategic research with artist, audience,marketand repertoire insight.

  • Working closely with senior and junior analysts to turn label questions into analysis,reportingand actionable recommendations.

  • Utilising partner, platform and internal data to pull out key metrics,identifyopportunities and feed insight back to label teams.

  • Creating clear narratives around artist performance, audiencebehaviourand campaign opportunities to help guide business decisions.

  • Advising on data related topics to ensure strategic projects, products and reporting are aligned to label needs.

  • Identifyingopportunities for new datasets, dashboards,featuresor insight products that become integral to how the businessoperates

Skills & Experience

Skills

  • Strong ability to turn data into clear insight,narrativesand recommendations.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence working directly with label teams.

  • Ability to gather requirements and translate business questions into clear analytical briefs.

  • Experience wrangling data using SQL andBigQuery

  • Comfortable working with partner,platformand internal data sources.

  • Good understanding of artist, audience,campaignand market performance metrics.

  • Ability to turn strategic priorities into actionable analysis,recommendationsand next steps.

  • Ability to present insight clearly to senior,creativeand non-technical stakeholders.

  • Comfortable working with analysts and technical teams to shape reporting,dashboardsand research.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to guide strategic work from brief to delivery.

  • Commercially minded, curious and creative approach to problem-solving.

  • Good understanding of data,AIand modern analytics tools.

  • Experience working within music, media,entertainmentor a related creative industry isadvantageous

Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in analytics, insight, data strategy, audienceresearchor a related role.

  • Background engaging stakeholders in a consultative or strategic capacity.

  • Experience working closely with label, marketing, artist,mediaor creative teams isadvantageous

  • Experience turning data and insight into clear recommendations that inform business decisions.

  • Experience leading analysis that supports artist strategy, campaign planning, audiencedevelopmentor product development.

  • Experience working with analysts, data scientists,engineeringor product teams to turn business questions into reporting,toolsor data products.

Education:

  • Degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.

  • A background in analytics, marketing, business, economics, music,mediaor a related discipline would beadvantageous, particularly where it has involved data-led decision making.
