The Role:
We are seeking a “ Analytics Engineer” with the right blend of cloud, data, analytics and technical skills, in order to run and manage the mechanics and core operational activities behind a powerful Analytics team.

Alongside this, they will have the opportunity to put their technical knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills to regular use by continuously seeking ways to improve systems, alongside various other tasks, projects, and activities.

Primary Key Responsibilities

• The role is suitable for someone who flourishes in a self-driven environment, is able to complete and manage various tasks, diagnose and troubleshoot issues, and complete their work to a high standard. They will be responsible in ensuring all day to day work is completed to a good-standard and resolve any issues they face.

• They will also use their technical skills to improve processes, build new requirements to prescribed standards, amongst other responsibilities. A curious self-starter will flourish in this environment as they are free to identify and deliver any work of value with respect to their team.

• Outside of operational tasks, they will get to take part in projects, new enhancements and other cloud-based development work that would be beneficial to the team and wider department.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification

Required Knowledge & Skills:

• Snowflake experience
• Strong Python skills
• Confident in SQL, such as creating stored procedures from scratch
• Experience developing code to a prescribed standard for peer review
• Debugging production errors, root cause analysis, and incident management
• Understanding of data models
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and organisational ability
• Communication with stakeholders, engineers and end-users
• Self-starter, can operate independently without awaiting instructions
• Thrives working in a collaborative and team environment

Strongly desirable

• Microsoft Azure experience
• Microsoft SQL Server experience
• Databricks experience
• Pandas and pyodbc experience
• JIRA and Confluence
• DevOps/Git
• IT competent
• Knowledge of financial instruments, either through study or work

Desirable

• Azure Data Factory (creating, running, troubleshooting pipelines)
• Prior engineering experience, CI/CD, releases and pipelines
• SQL Server DBA experience
• Logic Apps, Function Apps, Blob Storage, Orchestration
• JavaScript or other front end UI development
• Automation related experience
• Snowflake experience

Experience:

• 5+ years of total experience in data and cloud related roles
• Microsoft Azure experience (2+ years)
• Excellent SQL skills (4+ years full ETL experience, confident and independent)
• Databricks (1+ year)
• Strong Python experience (3+ years, familiar with pandas and pyodbc essential)
• Knowledge of financial instruments (1+ years) either through study or work
• Good Excel skills (3+ years)
• VBA desirable (1+ year)
• Dashboard building desirable (1+ year in PowerBI/Spotfire etc.)

Educational Qualification:

• Graduate in any discipline, but preference for IT or Finance related
