About the Role

As an Analyst / Associate on the Structuring and Execution team within Corporate Banking, ATB Cormark Capital Markets, you will provide critical underwriting support to the Directors, Structuring and Execution across Energy, Project Finance and Diversified industries. This position combines core credit underwriting, financial modeling, and risk analysis with essential administrative portfolio management duties for complex corporate lending clients. You will collaborate across internal departments to deliver flawless execution and ensure ongoing portfolio compliance.

Accountabilities

Credit Underwriting & Structuring Support

  • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive credit assessments through the completion of applications for credit for new transactions, renewals, and amendments.
  • Build and maintain financial modeling, sensitivity analysis, valuation analysis, and security assessments to evaluate risk.
  • Analyze financial statements, project metrics, and industry benchmark data to identify key business drivers and risk factors.
  • Ensure all credit recommendations adhere strictly to sound credit granting principles and ATB lending policies and procedures.

Portfolio Administration & Governance

  • Support day-to-day portfolio health by overseeing administrative tracking and accurate completion of covenant compliance and margining requirements.
  • Monitor late reporting items, overdrafts, wire transfers ("PCOM"), and issue timely reporting and action plans for any covenant breaches, Early Warning Signals (EWS), or triggers.
  • Assist, when necessary, in executing initial and subsequent fundings, including tracking, verifying Conditions Precedent and Subsequent to Funding.
  • Coordinate with internal documentation teams, solicitors, and clients to ensure security, collateral, and loan documentation remain complete and in good standing.
  • Assist in completing Corporate Health Assessments for high-risk accounts and ensure all required governance, regulatory, and compliance documentation (including AML/KYC) is completed.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support the sales and execution teams by preparing client presentations, background research, and sector analysis.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal partners across Risk/Credit, Banking Operations, Treasury, Legal, and Capital Markets.
  • Support financial targets by participating in ATB's multi-coverage model and identifying client needs or cross-sell opportunities during account reviews.
  • Participate actively in team meetings by sharing best practices, continuous improvement ideas, and process efficiencies.

Skills, Experience & Requirements

  • Analyst ~ 0-2 years, Associate ~ 2–4+ years of experience in financial institutions, corporate finance, accounting, or corporate credit underwriting.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • CFA designation, CPA accreditation, or MBA (completed or in progress) is considered an added benefit.
  • Exceptional analytical capability and financial acumen, with experience developing financial models for complex organizations.
  • Strong organizational and priority management skills with the ability to handle multiple transactions, administrative tasks, and tight execution deadlines simultaneously. Ability to work flexible hours including occasional weekends and evenings.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to present complex topics clearly and collaborate across cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and Google Suite.
  • Demonstrates high integrity, initiative, and a collaborative team mindset. Manages internal and external relationships in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and acquire new knowledge.
