Job Description

The Senior Accounting Analyst applies business process, analytical and project management skills in a dynamic environment to support the Quantum general ledger and cash management operation. Provides insight into the accounting operation and is responsible for the overall compliance and adherence to the District's accounting, treasury, and reporting guidelines. The Analyst will be exposed to a balanced view of the District's accounting, cash management, and financial system infrastructure to manage and perform high level data analysis, financial reporting and audit related compliance. Responsible for the accuracy of master data setup, critical to the District's monthly financial information and management reporting.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree required with major coursework in public or business administration or other appropriate field required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred
  • Microsoft Excel, Crystal report writer certification preferred

WORK EXPEREINCE:

  • 4 years of experience in Accounting and/or Finance required
  • Experience in K�12 education or public sector preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Knowledge of Quantum or similar ERP systems, Crystal Reports, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines
  • Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively
  • Ability to prepare accurate reports, correspondence, and other business documents
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate integrity and professional ethics
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to respond to inquiries and provide accurate information and guidance while building positive working relationships

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Manages compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and key performance indicators
  • Coordinates compliance reviews, monitoring activities, and policy and procedure evaluations
  • Performs financial variance, trend, reconciliation, and account analyses
  • Identifies, researches, and resolves accounting discrepancies and questionable transactions
  • Ensures accurate recording and transmission of financial transactions to the general ledger and cash management
  • Supports internal and external audits by preparing analyses, documentation, and recommendations
  • Conducts risk assessments and recommends mitigation strategies to strengthen internal controls
  • Develops financial models, reports, and statistical analyses to support management decision-making
  • Creates business process documentation, use cases, and recommendations for system and process improvements
  • Maintains confidential records, builds collaborative relationships with stakeholders, and may lead accounting projects and special initiatives
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in person and be available to work on-site during regular business hours and as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator or their representative

  • Strength: Ability to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Incumbent may be required to physically restrain parties involved in a conflict
  • Environmental Requirements: Ability to encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors
  • Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
