About your team

You'll be joining the Sonata Product Development team, which focuses on enhancing our platform capabilities to support our growing direct and intermediated businesses in the region.

About your role
This role is for an Analyst Programmer with experience in Java development, DevOps practices, and modern data technologies. You will be part of a product development team, contributing to the design, development, and enhancement of applications supporting global platform services.

You will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and deliver scalable, high-quality applications. The role requires a good understanding of microservices, distributed systems, CI/CD, cloud platforms, and modern data solutions.

You will also support application maintenance, production issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives, while adhering to engineering standards and best practices.

Key Objectives:

  • Design, develop, and implement Java-based applications aligned with business and technical requirements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather, analyse, and translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Enhance and optimise existing systems to improve performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Perform testing and debugging to ensure robust and defect-free applications
  • Maintain clear technical documentation, including code, design, and development processes
  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance, including troubleshooting production issues and implementing fixes
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful project delivery
  • Follow engineering best practices, including CI/CD, code quality, and DevOps standards
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies, frameworks, and industry trends

The role involves close collaboration with UK-based teams, requiring occasional flexibility in working hours. At times, extended hours or weekend support may be required for releases and critical activities.

About you

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions using Java technologies
  • Proficiency in Python with ML/AI libraries
  • Experience with Deep Learning frameworks
  • Ability to develop, fine-tune, and evaluate machine learning models
  • Collaborating with senior developers and team members to design and implement new features
  • Utilizing data structures and algorithms to optimize software performance
  • Participate in code reviews receiving constructive feedback.
  • Writing clean, efficient, and maintainable code
  • Produce technical documentation to assist team members
  • Integrate AWS cloud services into the existing system architecture.
  • Optimize and enhance application performance and scalability.

Experience and Qualifications

  • 2 - 4 years

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Strong knowledge of core Java concepts, object-oriented programming and J2EE development
  • Familiarity with data structures and algorithms
  • Experience with Spring framework and Spring Boot
  • Understanding of AWS cloud components
  • Experience of using source code management tools, e.g. Github
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Desirable Skills / Experience

  • Good knowledge of UNIX and Jenkins
  • Experience with JMS/KAFKA
  • Experience on PAAS and K8s
  • Experience on Angular JS / Node
