Job Description

The Originations Analyst serves as the central analytical and reporting resource for Honda Financial Services Originations department including Credit, Funding, and Business Development. The role is responsible for collecting, validating, analyzing, and transforming operational and portfolio data into meaningful insights that support business decisions, risk management, process improvements, and strategic initiatives.

The Originations Analyst develops and maintains reporting solutions, monitors key performance indicators, identifies trends and emerging risks, and provides recommendations to improve operational effectiveness and dealer performance. The position collaborates across multiple departments to support compliance requirements, business process enhancements, system development initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.

Success in this role is measured by the accuracy, quality, and effectiveness of reporting deliverables, the ability to identify actionable opportunities and risks, and contributions to operational efficiency, compliance, and business performance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Extract, validate, analyze, and manage origination, credit, funding, dealer, and portfolio data to support business reporting and operational decision making.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance standardized and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and performance metrics that provide visibility into business operations, productivity, portfolio quality, and risk trends.
• Monitor application, contract, auto-approval, and dealer activity to identify anomalies, emerging risks, compliance concerns, and process improvement opportunities.
• Analyze dealer, zone, and portfolio performance trends, including fraud indicators, first-year charge-offs, approval quality, and operational effectiveness.
• Translate complex data analysis into clear business insights, recommendations, and presentations for management and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Collaborate with Credit, Funding, Collections, Risk, Compliance, Sales, Remarketing, and Honda Canada teams to support reporting requirements, investigations, strategic initiatives, and operational improvements.
• Support business process reviews, policy development, SOP maintenance, and Dealer Handbook updates to ensure accuracy, consistency, and regulatory compliance.
• Partner with Corporate Compliance and business stakeholders to identify control gaps, support dealer audits, investigate operational concerns, and mitigate business risk.
• Lead or support business requirements documentation, user acceptance testing (UAT), and system enhancement initiatives to improve operational capabilities and reporting efficiencies.
• Ensure data integrity through ongoing quality assurance reviews, governance standards, validation processes, and adherence to internal controls, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
• Identify opportunities for automation, workflow optimization, and process improvements that reduce manual effort and enhance scalability.
• Document reporting methodologies, business processes, data sources, and operational workflows to support consistency, transparency, and knowledge transfer.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Analytics, Economics, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
• Experience in automotive finance, financial services, analytics, risk management, credit operations, or a related field is considered an asset.
• Knowledge of consumer lending, dealer finance operations, compliance requirements, and portfolio risk analysis is considered an asset.
• Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and identify meaningful trends and opportunities.
• Proven ability to translate analytical findings into actionable business recommendations and communicate effectively with management and stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong working knowledge of reporting, dashboarding, and data analysis tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare professional presentations, reports, business requirements, and procedural documentation.
• Experience developing and improving operational processes, controls, and documentation within a regulated financial services environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong collaboration and relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support Manager, Originations & Business Development to achieve all KPIs.
• Maintain independent relationships with Credit and Funding teams.
• Support HFS departments: Originations, Account Services, Sales and Marketing, Process Management, and Risk as required.
• Collaborate with CH Departments.
• Establish contacts in the industry for information sharing.
• Support third party vendors.
• Develops and maintains good working relationships and all members of the Department.
• Develops and maintains good working relationships within Honda North America as well as all other internal and external stakeholders.
• Develop, establish and maintain good working relationship with Honda North America suppliers, partners, consultants, stakeholders and other network contacts.

HIRING PRACTICES 

The salary range for this position is $72,921–$86,593 CAD annually. Individual salaries within this range are determined by a variety of job-related factors, including education, experience, knowledge, and skill set. 

This is an on-site with occasional work-from-home position that requires employees to work on-site four days per week with the opportunity to work-from-home one day per week (with a dedicated workspace at the assigned company office).
