As a Manager Research Analyst for Mariner, you will be primarily responsible for the evaluation of various public markets asset classes and categories. Additionally, the analyst will be responsible for developing and maintaining a focus list of recommended strategies within those asset classes and categories for client use. Research Analysts present their investment recommendations to the Mariner Enterprise Investment Policy Committee (EIPC) and collaborate with advisors on asset class education, manager interviews and strategy placements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Conduct sourcing and due diligence on assigned asset classes and categories
· Contribute to the production of the quarterly manager monitor for the EIPC meetings
· Develop and maintain a focus list of recommended investment strategies within assigned asset classes and
categories in support of Mariner’s institutional and wealth client base
· Collaborate with Mariner advisors to create search books for new manager allocations and replacement activity
· Develop primers and education presentations for assigned asset classes and categories
· Present updates, recommendations, and new ideas to the EIPC each month or as needed
· Conduct Annual Asset Class Reviews to provide updates to the EIPC Investment on assigned categories
· Identify short-to-intermediate term tactical investment opportunities suitable for client investment in areas outside
the scope of traditional asset allocation.
· Attend client meetings to assist advisors with asset class education, manager interviews, and strategy placements
· Provide peer reviews for team members within The Research Group
· Prepare and collaborate on strategy recommendations within The Research Group
· Assist with asset allocation modeling and model portfolio development processes
· Assist with new client onboarding through portfolio and investment strategy review and roadmap development
· Keep Mariner service teams informed of any pertinent information regarding our clients’ investment managers
· Lead the open investment RFP process for larger relationships within assigned asset classes.
· Attend and speak at conferences as needed
· Special projects as needed
· Assist in new business presentations as needed
· Mentor research associates within the group
Required Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
· At least three years of investment strategy due diligence experience. Knowledge across multiple asset classes
preferred
Preferred Education and Experience:
· MBA or CFA charter are preferred
· Experience with Morningstar Direct and eVestment Alliance, strongly preferred
Skills:
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organized self-starter with the ability to multi-task effectively
• PC proficiency including Microsoft Office; specifically, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
