The purpose of this job is to support the Risk Management company-wide; Safety, Business Continuity & Security Department by promoting safety awareness, disaster mitigation / planning / testing and compliance for the company.
1. Perform division, region, and company-wide analysis of corporate and retail location related accidents and identify trends; develop action plans to reduce incident rates and format safety programs
2. Participate in monthly division leadership conference calls to present monthly safety overview and review incident trends
3. Schedule training classes related to safety, safety awareness, and weather preparedness
4. Assist in the execution and coordination of emergency preparedness plan for the Sales and Support Center (SSC) as related to the company’s first-responders
5. Assess daily weather status and identify viable threats; communicate threats to the company’s operations management and assist in emergency calls’ tracking/follow up/reporting
6. Maintain the company’s emergency response / communication plan and assist in the development of a company business continuity program
7. Develop calendar and knowledge base of State / Country regulatory requirements. Maintain/post current materials timely
8. Investigate and formulate responses to governmental citations or inquiries
9. Develop weekly/monthly safety message for Operations including safety awareness, current incident reports, and industry best practices
10. Prepare and distribute retail safety performance scorecards
11. Schedule mtgs, develop agenda, and facilitate discussion regarding incidents and corrective actions
12. Evaluate individual required state safety programs; ensure programs are current and relevant
13. Evaluate safety equipment performance and provide recommendation to management for purchase; ensure new equipment is posted in VW
14. Evaluate and recommend services / software to streamline safety & business continuity
15. Review internal safety audits; communicate concerns and recommend solutions for compliance. Ensure compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
16. Model behaviors that support the company’s common purpose; ensure guests and team members are supported at the highest level
17. Complete other duties as assigned

Founded by James Haslam II, the first Pilot gas station was opened in Gate City, Virginia, in 1958. After more than four decades of rapid growth, expansion and partnership, Pilot and Marathon Oil Company entered an agreement to form Pilot Travel Centers in 2001.
Over the years, Pilot Travel Centers experienced significant growth and expanded internationally, opening its first travel center in Canada in 2006. In 2007, Pilot bought Marathon Petroleum’s shares and entered a new partnership with CVC Capital Partner in 2008. Two years later, Pilot Travel Centers and Flying J Inc. entered an agreement, officially creating Pilot Flying J on July 1, 2010.
