Position Title: Analyst II – Process Planning Systems
The Analyst II – Process Planning Systems provides analysis, evaluation, methodologies, and system technologies to support proposed and existing rule-based routing systems used for the creation and maintenance of product lineups across multiple product areas. Utilizing knowledge of object-oriented programming and knowledge-based systems, this position translates, interprets, and documents Carpenter’s manufacturing capabilities, resources, and business processes into technology solutions that enhance operational effectiveness.
The role conducts knowledge-acquisition sessions with cross-functional subject matter experts, develops and programs system guidelines based on business requirements, and supports the design, testing, implementation, and continuous improvement of process planning systems. The Analyst II provides day-to-day support to users and less experienced analysts while contributing to projects that improve process efficiency, accuracy, and system performance.
Primary Responsibilites:
Analyze, evaluate, and support rule-based router systems used for product lineup creation and maintenance.
Translate manufacturing capabilities, resources, and business processes into system-based solutions.
Utilize object-oriented programming and knowledge-based technologies to develop and maintain process planning applications.
Conduct knowledge acquisition sessions with subject matter experts and business stakeholders.
Gather, document, and interpret business requirements for assigned product and process areas.
Develop, maintain, and enhance system guidelines and business rules based on functional requirements.
Support the design, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of process planning systems.
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for process planning applications and related systems.
Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements and increased system effectiveness.
Participate in project teams and contribute technical expertise to assigned initiatives.
Support users by responding to system-related questions, issues, and enhancement requests.
Provide guidance and day-to-day assistance to less experienced analysts.
Ensure system documentation is maintained and updated as processes evolve.
Support safe work practices and environmental stewardship initiatives.
Collaborate with Manufacturing, Product Compliance, Engineering, Information Technology, and other functional groups to achieve business objectives.
Additional Requirements:
High School diploma required.
Two-year or four-year degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
Two or more years of experience with manufacturing processes and Knowledge Base Systems.
Experience supporting, developing, or maintaining rule-based systems preferred.
Experience with system analysis, testing, implementation, and support activities preferred.
Exposure to manufacturing operations and process planning environments preferred.
Working knowledge of object-oriented programming concepts.
Advanced knowledge of Knowledge Base Systems and AION Language.
Understanding of system knowledge acquisition, design, testing, and implementation methodologies.
Ability to solve a range of straightforward to moderately complex business and technical problems.
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments effectively.
Ability to work independently with moderate guidance while managing a broad scope of projects.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to facilitate discussions and gather requirements from cross-functional teams.
