The Corporate Tax Team at Invesco is divided into Direct Tax and Indirect Tax compliance. The Indirect Tax team handles various activities including preparing and filing of EMEA and North America Indirect tax returns, tax accounting and reconciliations, conducting value-added analysis, and optimizing processes. This team works closely with the business, global tax teams, and external service providers to ensure efficient and accurate tax activities

Your Role

As an Analyst I in the GBS Indirect Tax team, you will play a key role in preparing and reviewing end-to-end indirect tax compliance activities for the EMEA and/or North America regions. Your primary focus will be to ensure that all business-as-usual (BAU) tax processes run smoothly and efficiently, with strict adherence to relevant tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of all indirect tax filings, reconciliations, and related documentation. Your expertise will drive operational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement within the tax function.

You will work both independently and collaboratively, taking ownership of critical deliverables and driving process improvements. You will ensure that all BAU and ad hoc indirect tax activities are executed efficiently, accurately, and in line with onshore expectations. Your proactive approach will help bridge the knowledge gap between the Global Indirect Tax Manager and the wider team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, review, and file accurate and timely indirect tax returns (VAT, GST, Sales & Use Tax) for EMEA and North America, ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.

  • Prepare and review indirect tax accounts and reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and adherence to accounting standards, and investigate and resolve discrepancies in tax accounts.

  • Support internal and external tax audits by providing required documentation and addressing audit queries, coordinating with auditors to ensure timely resolution of audit issues.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and risk management within the tax function, and support the implementation of automation and technology solutions.

  • Stay updated on changes in EMEA and US indirect tax laws and regulations, conduct research, and provide insights on potential tax implications for the business.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, accounting, external advisors, and tax authorities, to resolve tax-related queries and ensure smooth tax operations, while building and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders.

The Experience You Bring

  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in indirect tax compliance, with a strong focus on EMEA Indirect Tax and/or US Sales and Use Tax; experience in a multinational, GBS/GCC, or Big 6 environment is highly desirable.

  • Solid understanding of indirect tax concepts, accounting principles, and compliance requirements; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (preferably Oracle Cloud).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex tax issues and identify effective solutions.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tax-related processes and documentation.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals and collaborate with stakeholders.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, adapting to evolving tax landscapes and organizational needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Academic requirements

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Finance, Accounting or semi qualified CAs

  • Professional certifications (CPA, ACCA, CA) are highly desirable.
