The Cyber Security Analyst I at Westlake is tasked with the administration and oversight of security monitoring tools to protect the IT infrastructure. This role involves proactive daily management of incident tickets, prompt resolution of vulnerabilities, and collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to address security compromises. The Analyst I supports complex investigations and remediation efforts across desktops, servers, printers, and network infrastructure equipment, while staying informed about the latest cybersecurity threats and trends.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
May include, but are not limited to, the following:
Administer and tune security monitoring and endpoint/network controls to help maintain a secure computing environment across desktops, servers, printers, and network infrastructure.
Partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders to remediate identified vulnerabilities and security compromises, documenting actions and outcomes.
Maintain and update Cyber Security policies, standards, and procedures, publishing revisions and communicating changes to impacted teams.
Develop risk-based security enhancement recommendations and control improvements, presenting options and tradeoffs to IT leadership.
Triage, manage, and resolve cybersecurity incident tickets, providing timely status updates and a documented resolution summary upon closure.
Coordinate security audits with IT management and auditors, supporting risk assessments, evidence collection, and remediation tracking through completion.
Investigate attempted security breaches, identify root causes, and implement or recommend corrective actions to address discovered weaknesses.
Lead the vulnerability management program by coordinating scans, tracking findings through remediation, facilitating bi-weekly reviews, and producing status reporting for stakeholders.
Administer and support critical security systems (Firewalls, Endpoint Security, Intrusion Prevention, Network Access Control, Internet Filtering, Email SPAM Filtering, and phishing exercise products) to ensure effective protection and reliable operations.
Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to critical security incidents and urgent issues outside regular business hours, escalating and communicating as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support Cyber Security and IT operational needs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT Security, Cyber Security, or a related field is strongly preferred; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
A Master’s degree in Cyber Security may substitute for a portion of the required experience, in accordance with company guidelines.
CISSP and other security certifications are a plus.
Minimum of 3 years of related Cyber Security experience required.
Demonstrated experience in managing and configuring Anti-Virus solutions, Firewalls, and understanding of network protocols and application security principles.
Practical experience with Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) solutions, including monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security events.
Proficiency in vulnerability scanning tools and technologies, with the ability to conduct scans, analyze results, and guide remediation efforts.
Strong foundation in network and server architecture, with an emphasis on security protocols and best practices.
Comprehensive knowledge of the OSI model and its application in troubleshooting and securing network layers.
Experience with scripting languages (such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash) to automate security tasks is highly beneficial.
Familiarity with forensic analysis techniques and data collection processes for incident response and investigations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators. Travel including air travel or auto travel may occasionally be required.
