Job Description

Supports the accuracy, performance, and daily operation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) by maintaining data integrity, executing system tasks, collaborating with stakeholders to resolve issues, support workflows, and contribute to ongoing improvements while following established processes and standards.

  • Collects and analyzes GIS data to support operational decision‑making and improve data accuracy.

  • Provides technical support to internal users by resolving GIS incidents within defined scope and escalating complex issues.

  • Monitors GIS databases and applications, performs routine health checks, executes scripts or SQL tasks and reports issues to senior staff or system administrators to maintain data integrity.

  • Performs troubleshooting for GIS systems, spatial data, and related integrations within assigned scope.

  • Maintains GIS datasets and spatial layers following enterprise mapping standards and naming conventions.

  • Supports automation or efficiency improvements by identifying opportunities and performing assigned scripting or workflow tasks.

  • Supports the creation and maintenance of GIS feature sets, materialized views, and data structures to enable proper asset visualization by following established GIS data integrity procedures and assists with documentation and quality reviews.

  • Provides Tier 2 support to troubleshoot user issues and maintain reliable GIS functionality.

  • Follows established company policies, procedures, and standards to ensure full compliance with applicable laws and industry regulations.

  • Participates in storm restoration tasks and assigned drills to contribute to the safe and reliable recovery of services.

  • Performs additional tasks aligned with role expectations and qualifications to support team goals and operational flexibility.

Additional Job Description:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer or electrical engineering, GIS, Cartography or Computer Science.

Experience

  • 3 years of experience working with GIS platforms and spatial databases.

  • Working knowledge of enterprise GIS systems (Hexagon NetWorks, ESRI ArcGIS).

  • Basic to intermediate SQL and scripting familiarity.

  • Understanding of GIS data models and architecture.

  • Experience supporting GIS workflows, spatial data maintenance, and system integrations.

  • Prior experience in a similar technical role is preferred.

Additional experience may substitute for required education when it aligns with the competencies and knowledge necessary for the role:

  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field may substitute when accompanied by a minimum of 5 years of experience performing similar functions and at least 3 years of experience performing a previous Analyst role.

  • Proficiency in GIS data maintenance and editing.

  • Working knowledge of SQL and spatial data structures.

  • Ability to interpret network models and perform network tracing.

  • Analytical thinking, attention to detail, and strong problem‑solving skills.

  • Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Driver's License

  • CIAPR- EIT or PE, or ESRI certification Preferred
