Job Description

The Capital Solutions team is a core part of the Financing Solutions function within Debt Capital Markets (“DCM”) that specialises in structured debt instruments such as hybrid capital. The team plays an instrumental role in the origination (and execution) of hybrid capital transactions, including designing and structuring instruments to achieve various client objectives (e.g. regulatory capital, ratings and accounting).

The global Capital Solutions team comprises 8 people across Hong Kong, London and New York and we are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Analyst to join the Hong Kong team.

In this role you will:

• Supporting the more senior members of the team across both pitching and execution
• Preparing client pitchbooks, summary termsheets, market updates, pricing analysis, regulatory and rating agency updates, marketing materials (internal and external) and joining calls with external advisers
• Maintaining and developing databases to support the team's activities
• Supporting the team's initiatives to remain updated on relevant developments in rating agency methodologies, regulatory rules, and accounting rules
• Assisting with the execution of hybrid bond transactions, including reviewing terms and conditions, discussing issuance terms with relevant internal/external stakeholders, addressing investor queries, etc.
• Actively collaborating with internal stakeholders (Coverage, DCM, Syndicate, other product partners) to deliver holistic advice and origination outcomes and assisting the team in being proactive in idea generation and client engagement

To be successful you will need:

• Strong foundation knowledge of DCM (origination and/or syndication), including fixed income market knowledge, etc
• Strong analytical skills, including mathematical as well as the ability to review regulatory and rating agency publications and apply judgement to identify bond structuring implications
• Ability to read, interpret, and summarise bond terms and conditions (and translate technical language into clear key easy-to-understand points)
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex topics succinctly and clearly (to internal stakeholders initially and to clients as proficiency increases)
• Powerpoint and excel skills required to produce pitchbooks and market data analysis
• Bloomberg experience preferred
• Languages: fluency in English is essential; additional Asian languages are useful but not critical
• Strong organisation, efficient working practices, time management and ability to multi-task
• Team spirit and collaborative nature are essential
• Ability to build relationships globally (within Capital Solutions) and across Global Financing Solutions teams (including Liability Management and Rating Advisory) as well as the wider DCM platform
