Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Planning, this role plays a key part in delivering actionable financial insights that support decision-making by WestJet's Executive Leadership Team (ELT) and Board of Directors. The Corporate Planning team leads the company's budgeting and forecasting processes, evaluates the financial implications of strategic initiatives, and develops the framework for internal performance reporting. Key team deliverables include the monthly business review, annual budget, and financial analyses supporting a variety of corporate initiatives and activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze WestJet's financial and operational performance, identify key drivers and trends, and deliver actionable insights to improve business performance.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of monthly financial reporting and business review materials for the ELT and Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate the monthly review of departmental financial performance and investigate variances.
  • Support the development of the annual budget, long-range financial plan, and monthly forecasts.
  • Monitor and benchmark WestJet's financial and operational performance against key industry peers and competitors.
  • Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic and operational decision-making.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to improve reporting processes, data quality, forecasting accuracy, and overall efficiency.
  • Support monthly traffic reporting and provide analysis of key operational metrics, including flight movements and passenger volumes.
  • Contribute as an engaged member of the Finance team supporting ad hoc analyses, sharing best practices, and fostering a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Business or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, valuation, or a related analytical role.
  • Proven ability to perform detailed financial analysis and synthesize findings into clear, concise recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including forecasting, scenario analysis, and three-statement modeling; DCF valuation experience is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
  • Highly analytical, naturally curious, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with OneStream, Oracle Hyperion is an asset.
  • Airline industry experience is an asset.
  • Progress toward, or completion of, a professional designation such as CPA, CFA, or CBV is considered an asset.
