Job Description

The American Express Global Financial Crimes Compliance (GFCC) function provides second-line policy, framework, oversight and control solutions to meet the Company’s legal, regulatory and risk management mandates in connection with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter Terrorism Financing (CTF), Sanctions, and Anti-Bribery and Corruption. The GFCC portfolio comprises all aspects of the Company’s first and second-line financial crime risk management (FCRM) activities, including all lines of businesses in the United States and both proprietary and non-proprietary global markets.

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Crimes Risk Reporting, this Analyst role is responsible for supporting committee, board, and program health reporting, including metric and report development, delivery, and change management. The successful candidate will partner with GFCC process owners, Enablement, and Enterprise Risk Management to provide visibility and oversight over financial crimes risks and controls. They will help to define new reports and metrics, gather and clean data to prepare key metrics and reports, develop and execute related quality controls, draft and maintain standard operating procedures, develop and maintain metric and report inventories, perform impact assessments and support change management activities, and expand reporting capabilities by supporting data and technology enhancements.

  • Assist in the development, preparation, and validation of key financial crimes reports and metrics for boards, committees, steering groups, and senior management.
  • Engage with stakeholders to continually evaluate reporting needs, escalate key risks, and drive risk-responses.
  • Support technology and process change assessments to evaluate and mitigate impacts to existing reports stemming from platform modernization, technology and process improvements.
  • Streamline and automate manual reporting processes, collaborating with the GFCC Enablement team, where needed.
  • Assist with data analytics and issue resolution, as needed.
  • Execute quality controls, draft standard operating procedures, and develop/maintain metric glossaries.
  • Manage project milestones/tasks in support of the broader program, as needed.
  • 2+ years of work experience in reporting, analytics, or data management, preferably within a compliance, control management, or risk management organization.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (e.g., Pivot tables, Macros, Power Query).
  • Demonstrated experience using data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, or MicroStrategy and/or proficiency in SQL and/or other data querying languages is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to translate findings into impactful reports, visuals, communications and presentations to senior leadership, regulators, etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in change management practices, including those related to technology transformation, preferably in a risk and compliance domain.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Decisive and independent self-starter with a high degree of accountability, solution-focused and able to successfully balance multiple tasks in a deadline-intensive environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively as part of a global team while independently owning and managing tasks and stakeholder relationships when required.
  • A working knowledge of a Financial Crimes program would be beneficial, although not essential.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
