The ideal candidate is equally comfortable building discounted cash flow models, researching and analyzing third party information, collaborating with internal and external customers and developing recommendations and presentations for senior leadership.

This is a high-visibility position with direct influence on capital allocation, commercial contracting strategy, and asset optimization decisions across our pipeline portfolio.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

Commercial

  • Support commercial engagement with shippers and other counterparties by assisting with commercial inquiries, issue resolution, and relationship management activities.
  • Support contract administration activities to ensure compliance with contractual obligations, while proactively managing commercial risks.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on commercial agreements for the business unit, providing guidance and strategic advice to internal stakeholders and management regarding contractual rights, obligations, and risks.
  • Provide support to contractually driven and organic commercial development opportunities, while supporting the ongoing management of pipeline assets.

Asset & Financial Performance

  • Support the commercial and financial performance of the conventional pipeline assets, including throughput, tariffs, capacity utilization, and operating margins.
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate asset performance, forecast cash flows.
  • Analyze mainline and lateral pipeline cash flows to identify underperforming segments, stranded capacity, and margin-enhancement opportunities.
  • Prepare economic evaluations (NPV, IRR, payback) for organic growth projects, tariff restructurings, and contract renewals/renegotiations.
  • Prepare commentary and supporting documentation for month-end financial close and forecasting cycles, explaining variances and key drivers of asset performance.

Data Mining, Forecasting & Analytics

  • Mine historical operational and financial data (volumes, nominations, contract utilization, pricing, curtailments) to identify patterns, risks, and commercial opportunities.
  • Develop and refine volume and revenue forecasts by asset, basin, and customer to support budgeting, long-range planning, and capital planning cycles.
  • Translate large data sets into clear, actionable insights for commercial, and executive stakeholders.
  • Maintain and improve dashboards/models that track asset KPIs (utilization rates, uncontracted capacity, tariff realization, contract expirations).

Asset Optimization

  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to optimize pipeline capacity across mainline and lateral systems, including looping, pumping additions, bidirectional flow, and interconnect opportunities.
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations to evaluate the commercial impact of hydraulic and operational constraints on asset capacity and cash flow.
  • Monitor market fundamentals (basin production, competitor infrastructure, regulatory/tariff filings) that affect asset value and competitive positioning.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Presentation

  • Prepare and deliver clear, polished presentations and financial analyses to senior leadership, commercial teams, and, where applicable, boards or external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Scheduling, Regulatory, Marketing and Business Development to support initiatives.
  • Represent Asset Management in cross-functional project teams for growth projects, M&A due diligence, and capital planning.

Education, Skills and Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in midstream oil & gas asset management, commercial analysis, business development, or a related finance/commercial role.
  • Strong financial modeling skills (DCF, NPV/IRR, sensitivity and scenario analysis) with advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with modeling tools a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to mine and interpret historical operational and financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Experience analyzing mainline and lateral pipeline cash flows and translating findings into commercial recommendations.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with experience preparing presentation materials for senior leadership and/or external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or related field (MBA a plus).
  • Working knowledge of midstream commercial contracts, regulatory frameworks, and industry data sources (e.g., EIA, basin production data, pipeline flow data).
