The Role:
We are looking for an Analyst - Business Acceptance to play a key role in protecting the firm by supporting the assessment and acceptance of new business across the global network. Working as part of the Legal & Risk function, you will undertake conflict checks, conduct client due diligence and risk assessments, and provide guidance on potential legal and reputational risks. This is a varied and challenging role offering excellent exposure, development opportunities, and the chance to work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the firm.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Initiate and analyse conflict checks for new business using the firm's conflict management system, identifying and escalating potential legal and commercial conflicts where appropriate.
Work closely with colleagues across the Legal & Risk function to support the resolution of conflicts and ensure compliance with professional and regulatory requirements.
Conduct comprehensive client due diligence (CDD) and anti-money laundering (AML) checks on prospective clients, together with proportionate due diligence on counterparties where required.
Review and clear matter opening requests, ensuring all necessary information has been obtained and assessed prior to approval.
Establish, monitor and maintain information barriers to safeguard confidential client information and manage potential conflicts of interest.
Provide guidance to lawyers on client acceptance processes, client identification requirements, AML obligations, sanctions considerations and reputational risk matters.
Advise on the firm's client engagement terms, policies, procedures and best-practice standards to support effective risk management.
Contribute to Legal & Risk projects, process improvements and knowledge-sharing initiatives, helping to enhance the firm's risk and compliance framework.
What we’re looking for
Previous experience within a legal, financial or professional services environment, ideally with exposure to conflicts, new business acceptance, risk management or regulatory compliance.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex information and exercise sound judgement.
Highly organised and detail-oriented, with a systematic approach to managing workloads and maintaining accuracy.
A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritise competing demands.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the confidence to build strong working relationships with lawyers, stakeholders and colleagues at all levels.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and provide practical guidance to stakeholders
