MUFG is seeking an Analyst / Associate with Credit Analyst and Relationship Manager experience to join their sector coverage team in New Zealand. This role offers a unique opportunity for you to support the origination and management of corporate and institutional customers, playing a pivotal part in achieving risk and return targets through comprehensive credit reviews and portfolio management. · Play an integral role in supporting the sector coverage team by conducting annual credit reviews, managing customer requests, and collaborating with internal stakeholders across credit, compliance, legal, operations, and risk.

· Enjoy direct engagement with corporate clients while contributing to strategic portfolio management initiatives, ensuring optimal client deliverability and adherence to industry-leading standards.

· Analyst / Associate, Institutional Banking (12 Month Fixed Term Contract)

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Relationship Manager based in New Zealand, you will play a vital role in supporting the sector coverage team’s efforts to manage both new and existing corporate and institutional clients.

· Conduct thorough annual credit reviews and internal rating assessments for a diverse portfolio of corporate clients, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and risk targets.

· Monitor covenant compliance diligently across all accounts, proactively identifying potential issues and supporting refinancing initiatives to optimise revenue streams.

· Support relationship managers by preparing detailed credit proposals for new transactions, including deal structuring, historical and forward-looking financial analysis, and industry research.

· Assist in the preparation of client presentations and customer account plans that reflect accurate financial insights and strategic recommendations.

· Engage directly with customers on account management tasks such as onboarding, periodic reviews, and responding promptly to credit-related requests.

· Collaborate closely with product partners and key internal stakeholders including credit, KYC, risk, compliance, legal, and operations to ensure timely delivery of client solutions.

· Coordinate activities within the broader network to facilitate seamless client interactions and maintain high standards of service across all touchpoints.

· Act as an ambassador for the organisation by adhering strictly to company policies and guidelines while exemplifying core competencies required by the bank.

· Support sector risk/return analysis processes alongside the Portfolio Management Group to inform strategic review decisions for infrastructure and structured finance clients.

· Provide ad hoc support to relationship managers as needed, contributing positively to team objectives through responsive communication and cooperative problem-solving.

What you bring:

To excel in this role, you will bring proven expertise in financial modelling using Microsoft Excel alongside a deep understanding of market dynamics affecting corporate and institutional banking.

• Analyst (1 to 3 years’ experience) / Associate (4 to 7 years’ experience) experience gained at a major domestic bank or chartered accounting firm; candidates from credit rating agencies, investment banks, investment management firms or corporate treasury teams are also welcome
• Business/Commerce/Law degree from a leading university is essential; advanced qualifications such as Masters of Finance, MBA or CFA are considered favourably.
• Comprehensive understanding of financial markets and economic trends relevant to corporate banking or investment sectors.
• Experience conducting independent research on customers or markets combined with critical thinking skills that enable high-level attention to detail.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills that facilitate clear reporting of findings as well as persuasive presentations to stakeholders.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel with proven ability to build and modify complex financial models for analysis purposes.
• Strong interpersonal abilities that foster positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and cross-functional teams within the organisation.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also managing multiple priorities independently across various work streams.
• Analytical mindset paired with effective problem-solving capabilities that support accurate assessment of credit quality and portfolio performance.
• Proactive attitude marked by enthusiasm for learning new concepts quickly; initiative-taking behaviour that drives continuous improvement within assigned responsibilities.
