Description:

The Support Specialist position is an entry-level role responsible for the foundational execution of analytical tasks, data management, and reporting to support the Advanced Analytics team. This role focuses on ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and maintenance of analytical assets and data processes, contributing directly to the team's ability to deliver insights without direct client interaction. The Junior Analyst will utilize a range of analytic techniques and tools to produce reliable operational reports and support internal data integrity initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Reporting & Dashboard Development:
    • Build and maintain recurring reports and dashboards according to specifications provided by Advanced Analytics Consultants and other team members.
    • Perform basic to moderate updates and optimizations of existing performance dashboards (e.g., "trend cards").
    • Confirm updates of files through internal recurring task processes.
    • Address fiscal calendar challenges by ensuring reports are correctly populated and aligned with internal requirements.
  • Data Management & Quality:
    • Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading for routine analytical tasks.
    • Ensure data quality and accuracy in all delivered outputs, proactively identifying and escalating discrepancies.
    • Investigate and reconcile discrepancies between internal dashboards and manual reports, identifying root causes.
  • Process Optimization & Maintenance:
    • Automate and optimize repetitive reporting processes to enhance efficiency.
    • Update and maintain existing analytical assets, methodologies, tools, and templates.
    • Contribute to the development and maintenance of appropriate internal documentation regarding analytic approaches, metric definitions, and data processes.
  • Team Support:
    • Support the Advanced Analytics team in various internal projects as directed by leadership.
    • Proactively seek opportunities to improve existing internal processes and analytical outputs.

Specific tasks:

  • Recurring Reporting:
    • Set up and optimize basic-to-moderate trend cards for internal tracking and analysis.
    • Execute routine data pulls and transformations for standard reporting.
    • Monitor and confirm successful completion of recurring reporting tasks via internal tools.
    • Adjust reports and data based on fiscal calendar requirements to maintain accuracy.
  • Data Investigation:
    • Investigate data discrepancies between various internal reporting tools and manual reports to ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Asset Management:
    • Assist in updating and maintaining internal databases, analytical models, and reporting templates.

Required Skills and Experience:

Candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in analytics/reporting and/or data management.

  • Analytical Skills - Analyzing and synthesizing information to understand issues and identify options. Ability to translate internal requirements into reporting/analysis specifications.
  • Technical Abilities - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with Pivot Tables, advanced formulas, and data manipulation. Familiarity with the broader Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) is beneficial. Experience with Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) or comparable Business Intelligence (BI) tools (Tableau, Power BI, etc.) would be a significant plus. Familiarity with Python for automation initiatives and data manipulation/analysis is beneficial.
  • Organizing and Planning - Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work, balancing resources, skills, and timescales to achieve objectives. Capable of managing multiple analytical tasks simultaneously.
  • Adaptability - Ability to respond and adapt to changing circumstances and to manage, solve problems, and provide solutions in a climate of ambiguity. Proactive in seeking solutions and learning new approaches.
  • Communicating Effectively - Writes effectively; adjusts to fit the audience and the message. Ability to clearly articulate analytical findings and data issues internally, both verbally and in writing.
  • Team Player - Proven ability to manage strong working relationships within the company. Able to complete tasks and work cooperatively with others. Actively contributes to team knowledge sharing and best practices.
