Enabler for smaller, more powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips
Working for tomorrow today.
Around 80 percent of all microchips worldwide are produced using ZEISS technologies. As the centerpiece of every electronically controlled system, they have become an integral part of our everyday lives – whether in smartphones, smart homes or smart factories. ZEISS is a technology leader in the field of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. With high-precision lithography optics, photomask systems and process control solutions, ZEISS enables the production of ever smaller, increasingly powerful, and more energy-efficient microchips, and thus plays a pivotal role in the age of micro- and nanoelectronics.
Join our Research and Development department "Analysis and Data Science": We are responsible for the conceptualization, analysis, and realization of highly precise mechatronic systems for optical assemblies, specialized test stands and measurement equipment, handling, transport & testing processes, and integration processes. As part of the design process, we develop kinematic concepts, simulate and analyze their performance, create technical drawings and documentation. We use state of the art analysis and programming tools and IT architecture. Does this sound exciting to you? Then join our team at the Zurich location and take on the following exciting tasks:
work in a dynamic, international team on challenging questions related to actuators and measurement systems
analyse structural, thermal and magnetic behaviour of actuators and measurement systems
analyse and design control systems to increase stability and performance
develop and improve mechanical components and assemblies together with Mechanical Design, Systems Engineering and Test Engineering
optimise mechanical systems with respect to stiffness, strength, stability as well as thermal and thermoelastic behaviour
independently develop solution concepts and derive, interpret and apply system specifications
build, verify and refine mathematical models of mechanisms and structures and correlate them with test data
develop new analysis approaches as well as data preparation and evaluation methods where standard methods are not sufficient
present and document your results transparently in agile projects, using precise scientific English
Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or Aerospace Engineering, preferably MSc ETH or equivalent
several years of experience in developing high‑precision actuators and measurement systems as well as in kinematics, mechanical systems and structural analysis
very strong skills in Nastran and Altair HyperWorks Suite, including experience with advanced methods such as condensed models and state‑space models
hands‑on experience in thermal analysis with Ansys or comparable tools and proficient in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, git and ideally Maxwell
fluent in English (at least C1 level) for all technical discussions; German skills are an advantage
collaborative mindset, keen to share knowledge, solution‑oriented working style and willingness to work on site on average at least around 60% of your working time
