Job Description

Ready to use your structural analysis expertise to help safeguard the UK’s nuclear fleet? Looking for work where your insight shapes decisions that matter for energy security and low‑carbon generation? At EDF, Success is Personal – we’ll support you to build a career that feels meaningful to you.

The Opportunity

As a Structural Analyst, you’ll join our Nuclear Services business – our technical centre of excellence, which supports our fleet of nuclear power stations and our nuclear new‑build projects.

Alongside a salary range of between £47,513 to £84,595 per annum, this hybrid role is based at #GloucesterBusinessPark, with 2–3 days each week on site and additional time in the office initially for training.

Your analysis will help drive the transition towards An Electric Britain – ensuring the safe and reliable generation of the UKs civil Nuclear Power fleet.

You’ll grow your capability in complex methods such as Finite Element Analysis, fracture mechanics, creep and fatigue, and structural impact dynamics. You’ll also guide work from external consultants, supported by colleagues who help you build confidence as you develop.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Structural Analyst who brings curiosity, clarity and a focus on safe, reliable engineering. To be shortlisted, you need to offer…

  • A relevant HNC (or equivalent) in a STEM subject
  • Experience in structural integrity design in energy or related industries
  • Understanding of the strength of metallic materials and degradation mechanisms
  • Ability to complete and report engineering assessments supporting safety cases or lifetime planning
  • Clear communication that explains technical issues to varied audiences

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform structural assessments for pipework, boilers and other pressure systems, lifting equipment, fuel assemblies and reactor internals
  • Apply complex analysis tools, including Finite Element Analysis, to evaluate integrity and plant performance
  • Prepare clear reports that support safety cases and lifetime planning
  • Provide practical advice to internal engineering customers and collaborate across teams
  • Oversee and review structural analysis completed by external consultants

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a salary range of between £47,513 to £84,595 per annum, and a market‑leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us.

Everyone is welcome at EDF; we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities. As a Disability Confident employer, we will support applicants requiring adjustments.

Applications for this role close on the 6th April, with interviews to follow on the 23rd and 24th April.
