Under the general direction of the Associate Director, AMS/SAP, the AMS Business Analyst is responsible for providing technical and customer support in all areas of the university’s Administrative Management Systems (AMS), including SAP and/or SuccessFactors human resources and payroll, automated time collection and attendance system, recruitment, talent management, finance, research administration, and associated third-party applications. We are seeking a Business Analyst (BA) with expertise in SAP S/4HANA and SuccessFactors to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions. The BA will collaborate with project managers, SMEs, business stakeholders, and IT teams to gather requirements, analyze processes, and support the successful delivery of AMS initiatives. This role is ideal for professionals who combine analytical thinking, AMS (FIS, HRIS, RIS) domain knowledge, and strong communication skills.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Collaborate between business and technical teams, validating that design decisions meet both user expectations and technical feasibility
  • Provide analysis of errors and makes recommendations to clients to fix errors
  • Co-ordinates with clients and system development staff during the development, testing and implementation of system changes and new client implementations.
  • Work as part of the team to move the project through all stages including defining functional business requirements, analysis, configuration, testing, implementation and post-implementation review to ensure that the system changes/solutions meet user and institutional requirements.
  • Works with the AMS Team to resolve technical problems that arise during project work on a timely basis, to ensure work can be completed with minimal delay.
  • Recommends system modification, upgrades or enhancement of system requirements and/or specifications to ensure compliance to standards and business processes.
  • Provides advice and technical support to client representatives, divisional/departmental representatives about the systems and ongoing use that is grounded in an understanding of the university’s policies and processes.
  • Analyze current business processes and identify opportunities for optimization through IT solutions.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • University degree in Business Analysis, Information Systems or related field, or a combination of experience and education.

EXPERIENCE:

  • SAP and SuccessFactors modules, including data models, workflows, and processes.
  • Experience in working in University environment is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate technical information to non-technical users.
  • Demonstrated ability to manipulate, transform, and analyze large data sets to support business analysis activities, including data migration and system conversion projects.
  • Demonstrated project management experience required.
  • Experience with business process analysis required.
  • Exposure to Agile and Waterfall methodologies is an advantage.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with project management software.
  • Proficiency in tools like MS Office, Jira, Confluence, Visio, and project tracking platforms.

OTHER:

  • Familiarity with University of Toronto and knowledge of U of T policies about Payroll and recruitment desirable.
