AML/KYC Risk Management and Outsourcing Specialist
Northern Trust is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented governance professional to support AML/KYC risk management and outsourcing governance activities within the First Line of Defence (1LOD) AML/KYC function. Reporting to the AML/KYC Risk Management and Outsourcing Manager, this role will support the execution of governance, risk management, and outsourcing oversight activities across the KYC Center of Excellence (CoE).
The successful candidate will work closely with Business Units, Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit, and outsourcing partners to help maintain a strong control environment and support adherence to regulatory and corporate governance requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the identification, assessment, monitoring, and reporting of AML/KYC risks across the Center of Excellence.
Assist in the management and tracking of issues, control deficiencies, audit findings, regulatory actions, and remediation activities.
Contribute to the preparation of governance reporting, risk metrics, key risk indicators, and management information to support oversight of the AML/KYC control environment.
Partner with key stakeholders to monitor emerging risks, control weaknesses, and operational challenges and ensure appropriate escalation.
Support regulatory examinations, internal audits, compliance reviews, and external assessments impacting the AML/KYC function.
Support oversight activities for outsourced AML/KYC services, including service performance monitoring, issue tracking, and governance reviews.
Assist with outsourcing risk assessments, due diligence reviews, and governance documentation requirements.
Coordinate with Business Unit, Risk, Compliance, and Outsourcing Governance teams to support execution of outsourcing obligations.
Maintain records and evidence supporting governance and outsourcing oversight requirements.
Track risk issues, action plans, and remediation activities to ensure timely completion and escalation where appropriate.
Identify opportunities to improve governance processes, reporting, and control effectiveness.
Qualifications:
University degree and/or relevant professional experience.
Financial services experience in AML/KYC, Financial Crime, Operational Risk, Governance, Compliance, or a related discipline.
Knowledge of risk management, governance frameworks, and regulatory expectations within a regulated financial institution.
Experience supporting audits, risk assessments, issue management programs, or governance activities.
Understanding of outsourcing governance is desirable.
Strong analytical, reporting, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools.
Ability to build effective working relationships across business functions and jurisdictions.
Experience supporting change initiatives and evolving operating models is advantageous.
