Class 3 Driver/Picker
Location: 21346 Highway 2, Fort Lawrence, Nova Scotia
Position Type: Permanent Full-Time
Reporting To: Route Supervisor
Start Date: Immediately
Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am start
Compensation: $24.14 per hour

The Class 3 Driver/Picker at Miller Waste Systems is responsible for the safe, efficient collection and transport of residential waste streams. This role supports public health by ensuring timely service, adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and respectful interaction with the community.

Responsibilities:
As a Class 3 Driver/Picker, your duties will include but are not limited to:
• Must adhere to Miller Waste Systems safety protocols and must be familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Yard Waste collection, Blue Box and/or Green Bin collection and residential garbage collection.
• Provide customers with reliable and high-quality customer service as the proper disposal of the waste streams are vital to the health and well-being of the residents in the community you service.
• The safe and efficient operation of a MWS Side Loader Truck.
• Collect various waste streams and deliver them to local transfer stations, compost facilities or landfill sites in an efficient and appropriate manner.
• Adhere to the collection and delivery schedule while following all relevant policies and procedures of the Company, Ministry of Environment as well as the by-laws of the Municipality in which you are working. Failure to adhere to safety policies and procedures may lead to property damage, injury, or loss of life.
• Interact with fellow employees, management, residents and members of the public in a polite and respectful manner at all times. Waste receptacles emptied into the collection vehicle must be placed back on the resident’s property, flipped upside down at the curb, in the same location from which they were removed.
• Complete 800-900 residential stops per day.

Competencies & Qualifications:
• Successful candidates will have a valid Class 3 Driver’s Licence.
• Clean Driver’s Abstract and no preventable accidents in the past year.
• Minimum 1 years’ experience on each type of equipment is considered an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Flexibility with your work schedule is necessary as start and end times may vary. Overtime, weekends and Statutory Holidays will be required at times.
• Effective written and verbal communication is required.
