Job Description

AmeriCorps the agency is a national service organization committed to addressing community needs. The agency provides grants to AmeriCorps programs to recruit members to serve a term of service for a specified number of hours. Upon successful completion of the member’s term of service, members receive an education award to pay for qualified future education expenses or qualified student loans. (Members who are 55 or older at the time of their enrollment may transfer their education award to a child, grandchild, or foster child.)

AmeriCorps Youth Launch is an education-based program providing high quality youth development for youth in 6 counties in south central Iowa. Members serve in Clarke, Decatur, Lucas, Ringgold, Union and Wayne counties. Search Institute's 40 Developmental Assets provide an evidence-based framework to guide the youth development activities and programs.

Position Summary and Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Summary: The AmeriCorps Youth Launch Program Manager is responsible for supporting the Director with various aspects of the AmeriCorps Youth Launch program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Program Director to organize AmeriCorps member recruitment, selection, training, support and retention
  • Review Member Handbook with Program Director
  • Assist Sites with recruitment of members for site locations
  • Consult with Program Director to complete training agendas
  • Consult with Program Director on member questions and concerns
  • Travel and network within the six southern Iowa counties
  • Explore new service site opportunities
  • Connect with youth organizations
  • Visit current sites to connect with members and supervisors when director is unavailable.
  • Collaborate with Program Director to recruit and train Host Sites and Supervisors
  • Collaborate with Program Director to recruit and train sites and supervisors
  • Collaborate with Program Director to plan and organize site supervisor training
  • Provide support to Program Director to personalize, print and deliver/email individual site agreements and invoices for new terms
  • Audit site agreement files to make sure all have been collected
  • Audit member files to ensure all mid-term and end-of-term evaluations have been received
  • Manage site supervisors in eGrants and OnCorps
  • Update site supervisors in eGrants
  • Add or update site supervisors in OnCorps
  • Support the Program Director with Performance Measure Data Collection
  • Monitor Google docs for submitted data from members
  • Create master spreadsheet for pre and post-tests as well as volunteers
  • Collect data for Iowa Grants reports
  • Conduct NSCHC background checks for member applicants to AmeriCorps Youth Launch (and staff when needed)
  • Conduct the enrollment of Members in eGrants and OnCorps
  • Send out invites in eGrants
  • Process
  • Monitor Member’s Monthly Timesheets in OnCorps
  • Submitted on a biweekly basis every other Monday
  • Are training hours documented?
  • Are they on track to meet their hours?
  • Have site supervisors approved hours? Due biweekly on every other Wednesday
  • Holidays or any days with 10+ hours? If so, request a “Teleservice Explanation Form”
  • Provide support to Program Director with management of Budget expenses
  • Match Director’s receipts with entries in Oracle.
  • Ensure correct budget numbers on receipt matches expense in budget review
  • Provide support to Program Director to process expense receipts and mileage reimbursement reports for members
  • Conduct member File Audits to ensure all forms have been collected

  • Maintain Master Spreadsheet of Member Tracking
  • Tracking of background check process
  • Tracking of enrollment process through eGrants

  • Manage Outreach Grant applications, expenses and final evaluations
  • Update the spreadsheet of expenses
  • Connect with grant seekers with support & guidance on grant submission
  • Market programs/events to local schools and AmeriCorps members
  • Request final evaluation and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Monitor payments to grantees
  • Keep the Outreach book up-to-date
  • Attend all required state and national trainings and conferences
  • Monthly Program Staff Webinars
  • Volunteer Iowa training Webinars
  • AmeriCorps Program Staff Launch
  • ASC National Service Training
  • Help maintain master calendar of all AYL important dates and deadlines
