Living Allowance of $3,300.00; paid out biweekly ($188.57)
Education Award of $1,565.08; earned at the end of term.
Note: This is a LIMITED TERM AmeriCorps Position consisting of 12 hours a week with a total service commitment of 300 hours.

About the Job
We need you to fill the role of AmeriCorps Community Support & Engagement Member Shalom Austin is the hub of Jewish life in Central Texas, providing programs, services, and resources that connect, empower, and support the community. Jewish Family Service (JFS) is the social service branch of Shalom Austin, offering dignified and compassionate support to individuals and families across the Austin area. This is a part-time position and this location requires a total service commitment of 300 hours (approximately 12 hours per week). Please note this position will begin on September 14th and run through May 14th 2027.
The Community Support & Engagement Assistants will support programs that promote understanding, inclusion, and meaningful connections among diverse groups in the Austin community. The AmeriCorps Member will help coordinate educational experiences that increase understanding of Jewish history, culture, traditions, and community life through educational and cultural programming.
A key focus of this role is supporting opportunities for Jewish teens and community members to share their lived experiences with Jewish and non-Jewish peers, helping to build understanding, reduce misconceptions, and strengthen community relationships.
In addition, the AmeriCorps Members will support Shalom Austin’s disability and inclusion initiatives, including the RAISE employment program, by assisting with employment and social skills support for RAISE employees.

Competency: Comfort and experience with interviewing, case management, coaching clients in-person and online. Working knowledge of Greater Austin social service resources and referrals. Adheres to legal and ethical standards of care, incl scope of practice, client privacy and record-keeping, HIPAA, and cultural competency.
Work environment: Perform in-office in accordance with agency policies.
Physical demands: Must be able to meet routine office physical demands including climbing stairs, carrying up to 20-pound objects and possessing the dexterity and vision to operate office computers and equipment.
