Job Description

The Ambulance Driver will be responsible for driving the Kuajok State Hospital Ambulance and any other vehicle assigned to them. They will be responsible for carrying patients with medical complications from primary healthcare facilities to the Hospital or during onward referral to any other facility designated by the General Surgeon and Hospital Management.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Driving
2. Drive the ambulance or any other assigned vehicle for official travel with only authorized passengers onboard. Ensure no unauthorised person, such as non-Amref staff or personnel are carried in the vehicle without explicit written authorisation accompanied by a signed passenger waiver form before travel.
3. Maintain high standard of service to staff and guests
4. Ensure punctuality and safe transport
5. Observe road and traffic laws and regulations, ensure that safe driving practices are adhered to including local driving codes and internally agreed standards.
6. Car Security and maintenance
7. Ensure the ambulance or any other vehicle assigned to them is kept clean, tidy and in good working condition at all times.
8. Ensure the ambulance or any other vehicle assigned to them is given regular/day-to-day maintenance checks: check oil, water, battery, brakes, tyres, etc.
9. Actively take part in weekly vehicle checks and follow up with logistician on needed repairs
10. Ensure vehicle repairs are carried out properly and that value for money services are obtained
11. Perform minor repairs and report other repairs as necessary
12. Assist the Field Logistician to ensure vehicle insurance and registration documents are updated according to schedule
13. Car Logbook maintenance
14. Log official trips, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, etc;
15. Administrative work
16. Aid the Logistician to facilitate staff movement, deliver goods and correspondences, deliver and collect official documents as required.
17. Perform any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job as required by management

Qualifications

1. Minimum Requirements
2. High school certificate and Driving Licence.
3. Able to read and write in English.
4. Defensive driving skills are an added advantage.
