Job Description

Job Title: AM PUBLIC AREA SUPERVISOR

Rate of Pay: $21.00/Hour

Shift: Full-Time, Year Round Benefited Position

MUST BE AVAILABLE WEEKENDS & HOLIDAYS

6:00am-2:00pm (varies with business demand)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt/Hourly

Guide the Public Area team through coaching, training, motivating, and leading by example to maintain the cleanliness of public areas including washrooms, interior corridors, resort vehicles, grounds, walkways, housekeeping closets, retail outlets, and food and beverage outlets according to resort standards and within the framework of Sundance environmental commitment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct public area stand-up meetings at the beginning of each shift to ensure all public area employees are present and on time.
  • Review special events report with team to identify active conference spaces or public areas requiring attention.
  • Assign Attendants areas for the day and give special directives relevant to Attendant's work area.
  • Distribute checklists to be completed and provided to management at the end of each shift for review.
  • Attend Housekeeping All-Team Stand-Up Meeting.
  • Ensure attendance in Housekeeping All-Team Stand-Up Meeting in absence of supervisor.
  • Responsible for checking in/out keys, radios, and chest packs from the safety office.
  • Check in/out Sundance vehicle following Sundance vehicle-safety guidelines if necessary to complete duties for the day.
  • Train new and existing employees to the Sundance standard.
  • Inspect all public areas at key times during the day to ensure quality.
  • Train employees on recycling procedures for public areas.
  • Ensure energy conservation procedures are followed in public areas.
  • Ensure all closets and storage areas are clean and stocked.
  • Ensure all closets and storage areas are locked at end of shift.
  • Ensure cleanliness of public areas in assigned sections including all amenities being stocked; ie: paper towels, soap, toilet paper, linens, etc. per Sundance standard for current business level. Ensures staff follows Sundance Housekeeping protocols for cleanliness and safety.
  • While cleaning, inspect all areas for maintenance or safety issues (i.e. loose dispensers, light bulbs, unhinged doors, etc.)
  • Report maintenance or safety issues to PBX.
  • Ensure operational areas are cleaned prior to scheduled opening.
  • Ensure conference spaces are cleaned prior to scheduled usage.
  • Ensure each employee is wearing a neat and complete uniform including nametag and radio.
  • Make sure keys and radios checked out have been returned to safety.
  • Ensure all Attendants work only scheduled hours, unless approved overtime per Management.
  • Must be willing to work indoors or outdoors in all weather conditions.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Directly supervise 2-4 employees.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organization policies and applicable laws.
  • Interview and train employees; plan, schedule, assign and direct work.
  • Coach employees on prioritizing duties and completing duties to the Sundance standard.
  • Provide feedback on performance, praising employees, addressing complaints, resolving problems.
  • Promote a positive work environment by showing employee appreciation, administering constructive criticism in a professional and sensitive manner.
  • Use critical thinking to resolve problems.
  • Encourage and motivate employees, maintain a positive attitude despite adversity to promote strong morale.
  • Report performance or insubordination issues to Management for resolution and/or discipline.
  • Communicate any unfinished work or challenges with the PM Shift and Management to prevent unresolved problems. Attend bi-weekly progress meetings with Management as scheduled to assess performance trends.
  • Ensure sufficient labor coverage and cover vacant shifts due to short-staffing or scheduled/non-scheduled employee absences when creating the weekly schedule.
  • Work weekly schedule as approved by Management based on business demands.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. Drivers' License in good standing in accordance to Sundance's Insurance Company guidelines.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee must be able to work outside in extreme weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
