Alumni Engagement and Board Lead

The Job's Mission

The Alumni Engagement and Board Lead supports and drives the day-to-day functioning of the IMD Alumni Association Board, working in close partnership with the Chair to translate strategic direction into sustained action. The role ensures continuity, follow-through, and coherence between board meetings, operating at the intersection of governance, alumni engagement, and institutional coordination.

Key Activities & Accountabilities

Board and Chair Support

  • Serve as the primary operational liaison between the Chair and Alumni and Development Team
  • Draft agendas, manage meeting logistics, prepare board packs and finalise board minutes
  • Manage board expense reimbursements and related record-keeping

Working Group and Volunteer Leadership Support

  • Schedule meetings, document discussions, and track actions to completion
  • Maintain ongoing contact with working group leads between meetings
  • Onboard new working group members and board-connected volunteers
  • Coordinate across working groups to align priorities and avoid duplication

Alumni Engagement and Communications

  • Manage membership communications (onboarding, renewals, targeted campaigns)
  • Lead event communications from invitation through follow-up and evaluation
  • Manage the alumni support inbox and respond to day-to-day enquiries
  • Support capture and sharing of alumni stories with the data and impact team

Digital Learning and Special Events

  • Take operational responsibility for Discovery Days and other flagship initiatives by coordinating with stakeholders and managing timelines, registrations, communications, and follow-up
  • Support digital learning offers in collaboration with IMD faculty, career development, clubs, and communities
  • Co-create scalable alumni learning journeys leveraging volunteer and alumni expertise

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Relations or equivalent
  • 5 years of professional experience in a related field.

Competencies

  • Strong organisational and coordination skills, with rigorous attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting boards, governance bodies, or senior leadership
  • Excellent written communication skills, including drafting of board papers, presentations, briefing notes, minutes, and stakeholder correspondence.
  • Excellent presentation skills and verbal communications
  • Comfort with digital platforms for communication, event management, and engagement tracking
  • Familiarity with alumni engagement, membership organisations, or higher education institutional contexts.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English (preferably English mother tongue). Any other language a plus.
