Job Description

Aluminum TIG Welder
Sea Fox Boats is a leading manufacturer of high-quality fishing and family boats. We are looking for a skilled and dependable Aluminum TIG Welder to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience welding aluminum and takes pride in producing clean, strong, high-quality work.

The Aluminum TIG Welder is responsible for fabricating and welding aluminum components used in the construction of marine vessels. This position requires strong TIG welding skills, attention to detail, the ability to read measurements and drawings, and a commitment to safety and quality.
The successful candidate will work closely with production and fabrication teams to ensure aluminum components are properly fitted, welded, finished, and ready for installation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform TIG welding on aluminum components and assemblies used in boat manufacturing.
  • Set up and operate TIG welding equipment, including selecting appropriate settings for material thickness and application.
  • Fabricate, fit, tack, and weld aluminum parts according to specifications, measurements, drawings, and production requirements.
  • Produce clean, consistent, structurally sound welds with minimal distortion.
  • Prepare aluminum surfaces prior to welding by cleaning, grinding, cutting, and removing contaminants as needed.
  • Inspect welds and finished components for quality, strength, appearance, and proper fit.
  • Identify and correct welding defects, including porosity, undercut, cracking, incomplete fusion, and excessive weld buildup.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, grinders, saws, clamps, measuring tools, and other fabrication equipment safely and effectively.
  • Accurately measure and verify dimensions using tape measures, squares, calipers, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, diagrams, weld symbols, and fabrication instructions.
  • Maintain proper weld penetration and bead appearance while meeting production standards.
  • Assist with fabrication, assembly, fitting, and finishing of aluminum components when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.
  • Perform quality checks throughout the welding and fabrication process to prevent defects from reaching the next stage of production.
  • Communicate production issues, material concerns, equipment problems, or quality issues to supervision.
  • Meet established production schedules while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience with TIG welding aluminum required.
  • Marine, boatbuilding, fabrication, or manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to consistently produce clean, high-quality aluminum TIG welds.
  • Ability to read and understand basic blueprints, drawings, measurements, and welding symbols.
  • Strong understanding of aluminum welding techniques and proper material preparation.
  • Experience using grinders, saws, drills, clamps, measuring tools, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic welding and fabrication issues.
  • Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet production deadlines.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for extended periods while welding and fabricating.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and work in awkward positions.
  • Ability to lift and move materials and components weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, heat, and welding light.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including welding hood, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and other protective equipment.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Welding certification is a plus.

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who knows how to weld aluminum—not someone we have to teach from the ground up. The right candidate takes pride in their welds, understands the importance of proper fit-up and preparation, and can consistently produce quality work in a fast-paced production environment.
If you are an experienced Aluminum TIG Welder who wants to put your skills to work building high-quality boats, we want to hear from you!
