Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the Head of ALM and Market Risk is to provide oversight to balance sheet risks, specifically liquidity risk, interest rate risk in the banking book (IRRBB), and funding risk, market risk and counterparty risks ensuring the institution operates within approved risk appetite and complies with all regulatory requirements. The role provides strategic guidance and robust risk support for sustainable financial performance and stability and ensures that that the institution remains financially stable under normal and stressed conditions.

The individual will be responsible for the following amongst other deliverables:

Oversight and Governance

  • Design and oversee the implementation of the commercial lending strategy
  • Ensure implementation of ALM and Market risk frameworks for measuring and monitoring risks and exposure
  • Oversee and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and approved Risk appetite
  • Oversee development of risk models and methodologies
  • Oversee stress testing and scenario analysis relating to ALM and Market Risks
  • Provide risk input into pricing, product development, and strategic initiatives
  • Recommend mitigation strategies including hedging and balance sheet structuring
  • Serve as a key contributor to the related Governance Committees
  • Present risk insights and recommendations to senior management
  • Ensure accurate and timely production of ALM risk reports
  • Reporting risk indicators to:
    • Executive Management
    • Board Risk Committee
    • Regulators

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate closely with Treasury, Global Markets, Finance, and Business Units
  • Drive enterprise risk management objectives
  • Lead and develop the ALM and market risk team

Control Environment

  • Ensure proper documentation, governance, and audit readiness
  • Build strong analytical and risk culture within the function
  • Ensure continuous improvement of systems, models, and reporting tools
