About the role

Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking a dedicated Allied Health Assistant to join our Allied Health team. This casual position offers flexibility with weekday shifts (Monday to Friday), typically from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and the potential for additional hours based on operational needs—including occasional weekend shifts. For the right candidate, there may also be opportunities for a permanent part-time role in the near future.

Our Allied Health team operate out of our Pimlico campus where you will work across both inpatient and outpatient patients as required. Inpatient caseload may include; orthopaedics, surgical, intensive care, cardiothoracic care, medical and women’s health.

Salary range: $34.87 - $36.55 per hour plus Casual Lading plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

Key tasks in the role include:

  • Provide excellent customer service to all incoming patients accessing Allied Health Services.
  • Assist in delivery of therapy services and running group sessions devised by therapists.
  • Monitoring and care of clinical equipment, therapy material, educational resources, and assist with equipment purchasing.
  • Maintain designated clinical areas, facilities and equipment in a safe and clean condition.

About you

To be successful in your application, you will have:

  • A certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance desirable.
  • Advanced communication skills, including the ability to communicate with clients, carers and service providers and respond to competing demands.
  • Flexibility – able to adapt to changing priorities throughout the day and maintain composure and an excellent standard of customer service at all times.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a patient environment (with inpatients, day patients, or outpatients).
  • Ability to actively participate in a team.
  • High level of computer skills.
  • Highly competent organisation and time management skills.

We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.
