Job Description

University of Rochester Medical Center Allergy/Immunology Faculty Position

The Allergy/Immunology & Rheumatology (AIR) Division of the Department of Medicine is recruiting for the Dr. Stephen and Elise Rosenfeld Distinguished Professorship in Allergy & Clinical Immunology.

The Department of Medicine is seeking a candidate that is board certified in Allergy Immunology with a focus in basic, translational or clinical research. Generous start-up funding for laboratory-based research is available. Current academic level is less important than potential as a researcher and section leader.

Allergy Division at the University of Rochester has been building over the past 13 years going from 1 to 14 full time faculty (8 primary in Medicine and 6 primary in Pediatric including 7 with dual appointments). Additional recruitments are expected.

The University of Rochester is a World Allergy Organization Center of Excellence and a member of the Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) Clinical Network. The AIR Division has exceptionally strong immunology research programs including the principal/lead investigators for the NIH Accelerated Medicines Partnership in both Rheumatoid Arthritis and Psoriatic Arthritis. Outside of the AIR Division are collaborative research partners including the Pediatric Allergy Immunology Division with basic and clinical research programs in food allergy and the early development of the immune system, the Pulmonary and Critical Care Divisions with basic and translational research programs in asthma and a T32 Training Grant in Multidisciplinary Pulmonary Research, and the Dermatology Department with a translation research program in immune mediated skin disease. There is also a cross-disciplinary R38 Research in Residency program from NIAID led by AIR and Pediatric Allergy. It is expected that time will be divided between research activities, clinical activities, teaching-mentorship of faculty, and administration depending on the interests of the applicant. Demonstration of sustained grant support is required for appointments at the mid-career or senior rank.
