KLA is a global leader in diversified electronics for the semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem. Virtually every electronic device in the world is produced using our technologies. No laptop, smartphone, wearable device, voice-controlled gadget, flexible screen, VR device or smart car would have made it into your hands without us. KLA invents systems and solutions for the manufacturing of wafers and reticles, integrated circuits, packaging, printed circuit boards and flat panel displays. The innovative ideas and devices that are advancing humanity all begin with inspiration, research and development. KLA focuses more than average on innovation and we invest 15% of sales back into R&D. Our expert teams of physicists, engineers, data scientists and problem-solvers work together with the world’s leading technology providers to accelerate the delivery of tomorrow’s electronic devices. Life here is exciting and our teams thrive on tackling really hard problems. There is never a dull moment with us.
Job Preferred Qualifications
Design, implement, and productize computer vision and signal processing algorithms for semiconductor manufacturing applications, including substrate alignment, presence and contrast verification, notch detection, and related handling tasks—under real‑world constraints such as lighting, optics, and throughput.
Own features end‑to‑end, from problem definition and data collection through modeling, prototyping, optimization, and integration into production systems and user interfaces. Partner with cross‑functional teams to define KPIs, acceptance criteria, and success metrics.
Develop and maintain calibration and validation pipelines, including repeatability analysis, bimodality checks, and error budgeting. Analyze field and production data, identify performance gaps, and drive corrective actions to ensure stable, in‑spec system behavior.
Collaborate closely with System, Software, Motion/Robotics, and SQC teams to deliver release‑quality functionality on shared platform components. Contribute to robust logging, diagnostics, and high‑quality release documentation.
Produce clear and structured technical documentation such as design specifications, experiment reports, and deployment guides. Participate in and provide constructive feedback through code and design reviews.
Minimum Qualifications
B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or equivalent hands‑on experience in applied algorithm development
Strong background in computer vision and/or signal processing, including feature detection, calibration, optimization, and statistical analysis- at least 5 years
Experience with machine learning and deep learning methods, tools, and frameworks
Proficiency in Python and MATLAB for algorithm development and experimentation, with a strong engineering approach (code quality, testing, collaboration)
Proven experience taking algorithms from concept and prototype to production systems with hardware in the loop (sensors, optics, illumination, motion)
Background in semiconductor equipment, robotics, or motion control systems; familiarity with optics, illumination, and physics‑based modeling or simulation
Experience with calibration and qualification workflows, and comfort balancing trade‑offs between accuracy, robustness, and cycle time
Strong analytical skills with the ability to design experiments, analyze data, and clearly communicate results to multi-functional teams
