Job Description

Location: Gulf Coast Region (Onsite)
Duration: Initial 6-Month Contract with Strong Extension Potential (1–2+ Years)
Requirements: Valid/Current TWIC Card Required

We are seeking an experienced Alarm Management Engineer to support a large-scale LNG and energy operations environment. This individual will serve as the subject matter expert responsible for optimizing and rationalizing a complex Honeywell Experion alarm management system to improve operator effectiveness, process reliability, and overall plant safety.

This is a highly visible role supporting mission-critical operations within a sophisticated industrial process environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure, optimize, and maintain alarm settings within a Honeywell Experion PKS environment to support high-performance operator interfaces and safe plant operations.
  • Implement advanced alarm management strategies including Alarm Shelving, Dynamic Alarm Suppression, Alarm Tracker, and nuisance alarm reduction initiatives.
  • Lead alarm rationalization efforts aligned with ISA-18.2, IEC 61511, ASM Consortium principles, and API RP 1167 standards.
  • Utilize Honeywell Alarm Performance Optimizer and related tools to identify and remediate “bad actor” alarms, chattering alarms, stale alarms, and alarm flooding scenarios.
  • Coordinate alarm strategies across integrated process control environments including:
    • Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS)
    • PLCs
    • SCADA systems
    • Tank monitoring systems
    • Pipeline operations
  • Generate and present alarm system performance analytics, KPI reporting, and continuous improvement recommendations for plant leadership and operations teams.
  • Partner closely with operations, process controls, instrumentation, and engineering teams to improve alarm effectiveness and reduce operator overload during upset conditions.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting Honeywell Experion PKS systems within oil & gas, LNG, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Honeywell C300 Controllers
    • Series C I/O
    • Alarm rationalization initiatives
    • Alarm lifecycle management
  • Advanced knowledge of Honeywell alarm management applications and/or third-party rationalization tools such as:
    • Honeywell Alarm Manager
    • DynAMo
    • exida SILAlarm
    • TiPS LogMate
  • Strong understanding of industrial process equipment and control strategies including compressors, separators, rotating equipment, and advanced regulatory control systems.
  • Deep familiarity with:
    • ISA-18.2
    • IEC 61511
    • ASM Consortium principles
    • Industrial HMI/alarm design best practices

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in:

  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Instrumentation Engineering
  • Related Engineering Discipline

Preferred Background

  • Experience supporting LNG facilities, pipeline operations, gas processing, refining, or petrochemical plants highly preferred.
  • Previous experience leading large-scale alarm cleanup or alarm optimization initiatives is a major plus.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work directly with operations and engineering leadership.
