A warm, busy professional family in Northern Virginia is seeking a proactive, kind, and highly organized Part-Time Housekeeper/Household Assistant to support the smooth day-to-day functioning of their 7,000+ square foot home. This is a wonderful opportunity for a career housekeeper who enjoys becoming a trusted, long-term part of a family’s rhythm and takes genuine pride in creating calm, order, and efficiency within the home.

The family has six children (with older children heading off to college and younger children still at home), a friendly Labrador, and currently utilizes a biweekly deep cleaning service. They are now looking for a consistent, dependable professional who can provide the daily upkeep, organization, and hands-on support that keeps a busy household running beautifully.The family describes themselves as warm, down-to-earth, and eager to find the right long-term fit—someone they can truly partner with for years to come

This role is ideal for someone with excellent initiative who can identify what needs attention each day, work independently, and seamlessly integrate into an active but welcoming family environment.

Schedule: Monday through Friday Approximately 20–25 hours/week guaranteed Tentative preferred hours: 8:00am–12:00pm, though the family is open to flexibility for the right candidate. Afternoon schedules may also be considered depending on candidate availability.

Responsibilities

• Daily tidying, straightening, and household reset
• Kitchen upkeep, including loading/unloading dishwasher and maintaining clean counters/surfaces
• General household organization and upkeep
• Managing family laundry flow (gathering laundry for service, unpacking/folding/putting away clean laundry)
• Light targeted cleaning between professional deep clean visits
• Pantry and refrigerator organization
• Grocery shopping and household errands as needed
• Inventory monitoring and replenishment of household essentials
• Seasonal organization projects (closets, storage rotations, children’s spaces, etc.)
• Miscellaneous household support projects as needed
• Light meal prep is a plus, but not required

Qualifications

• Experience in larger private residences
• Household assistant / family assistant crossover experience
• Light meal prep experience
• Flexible scheduling availability
• Long-term mindset and desire to become a trusted fixture in a family home

Requirements

• Minimum 5+ years of professional private housekeeping experience
• Prior experience in an active family home
• Self-starter with strong initiative and excellent judgment
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working independently without heavy oversight
• English fluency required for clear communication
• Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle
• Comfortable around children and family activity in the home
• Comfortable around a friendly dog
• Authorized to work in the US
• Excellent verifiable references
