Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Operational Management
    • Manage day-to-day air export and import operations, ensuring timely processing of documentation, and regulatory filings are compliant with local customs and aviation regulations.
    • Monitor and manage file profitability, shipment milestones, and operational KPIs timely.
    • Ensure accurate and timely data entry in operational systems.
    • Handle irregularities promptly, including damaged or delayed shipments, claims, and customer escalations.
    • Develop and implement internal standard operating procedures to streamline communication channels and enhance efficiency, and productivity.
  • Carrier and Vendor Management
    • Maintain close relationships with airlines, GSA, ground handling agents, and trucking vendors.
    • Monitor the carrier and vendor’s performance and address potential service issues to ensure service reliability.
  • Customer Management
    • Maintain close communication with customers regarding shipment milestone updates, problem resolution, and service improvement.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
    • Support business development teams in providing airfreight operational expertise when needed.
  • Compliance and Quality
    • Ensure adherence to local and international airfreight regulations, including IATA and customs requirements.
    • Monitor and enforce security procedures in line with C-TPAT and relevant aviation security standards.
    • Implement and maintain effective quality control procedures.
    • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of shipping documents, billing and records keeping.
  • Team Leadership
    • Lead, coach, and develop the airfreight operations team to drive productivity and service quality.
    • Monitor workload allocation, training needs, and staff performance.
    • Foster a collaborative and safety-focused working environment.
  • Financial Management
    • Monitor P&L for the airfreight department to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
    • Control operational costs and identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Strategic Planning
    • Identify opportunities for growth and expansion of airfreight services.
    • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business objectives.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and market conditions for informed decision making.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years of freight forwarder background. Able to identify airport operations challenges, lead discussion and resolution. Airfreight operations experience in a freight forwarding environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Able to lead meetings with all levels.
  • Experienced in managing overall airport operations, and actively interacts with various stakeholders:
    • Internal airfreight & customs teams.
    • Cargo Terminal Operators.
    • Airport Authorities – TAPA, AOT, CAAT.
    • Truck vendors.
    • Airport terminal vendors.
    • Airport warehouse vendors.
    • Overseas stations/agents
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Customer-oriented mindset with problem-solving skills.
