General Description and Classification Standards:

Designs and manages printed material and audiovisual support materials for all public relations and advertising products for an assigned department. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: developing signage; enhancing the message of the Department; maintaining the visual brand for the Department by designing professional, visually-appealing designs that communicate information; and maintaining the high standards and integrity of the brand.

Supervision Received:

Works under very general supervision. May work independently or with other skilled or semi-skilled workers with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

These are typical responsibilities for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.

  • Writes project timelines for some projects that require meeting extensive deadlines.
  • Develops designs and layouts for brochures, reports, etc., by utilizing the computerized desktop publishing system.
  • Coordinates the layout and design for the departmental newsletter.
  • Develops concept designs for updated advertising materials on an ongoing basis.
  • Develops set designs for special airport events.
  • Assists in the development of signage for the airport.
  • Develops and refines procedures to ensure maximum effectiveness.
  • Interfaces with personnel from all areas of airport operations in obtaining information for layout of newsletters, brochures, etc.
  • Uses independent judgment in routine and non-routine circumstances including the handling of emergency situations.
  • Typically maintains formal project management and/or skills development responsibilities.
  • Works in collaboration with cross functional team members in the coordination and development of multiple projects.
  • Creates public facing presentations using department branding standards.
  • Creates campaign, event, and landscape photography that highlights department projects, partnerships, and the overall culture of Atlanta.
  • Produces and edits videos for short and long form content that highlight department programs and initiatives.
  • Manages and edits Department's website using a web content management system as well as developing social media graphics for the Department's social media channels.
  • Acts as official photographer for all Department events.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience - Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Graphic Design, or a related field; three (3) years of graphic design, drafting, or related experience required; equivalent professional experience may be considered for substitution for the required degree on an exception basis.

Licensures and Certifications - None required.

Preferred Requirements - Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Graphic Design, or a related field; and five (5) years of graphic design, drafting, or related experience preferred.

Work Environment:

Required physical, lifting, and sensory capabilities are requirements to perform the job successfully. Typical environmental conditions associated with the job.

Lifting Requirements:

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

Light work Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
