General Description and Classification Standards:

BIM Coordinator assists in the development, implementation and oversight of Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards, workflows, and technologies for airport design, construction, and asset management. Working under the BIM Manager of the Department of Aviation, Planning & Development (DOA/P&D), this position is responsible for the technical coordination of multi-disciplinary models across project cycles to ensure that all information exchange workflows align with ISO 19650 principles and designers and contractors are adhering to the DOA/P&D BIM Standards and Project Specific BIM Execution Plan.

Supervision Received:

This position requires work to be completed independently with minimum supervision.Direction received focuses on strategic objectives and is typically collaborative in nature.This position assists in carrying out the direction set forth within the division. Work methods and assignment results are typically reviewed by a more experienced professional or a manager prior to final action.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide Technical Coordination and Clash Management
  • Aggregate architectural, structural, MEP-FP, and specialized airport systems into a master federated model.
  • Lead rigorous clash detection cycles and move beyond “clash reports” to facilitate real world spatial problem solving between trades.
  • Use Visual Design and Construction (VDC) to support 4D (scheduling) and 5D (cost) workflows to visualize construction sequencing in high traffic operational zones.
  • Audit models for adherence to ATL naming convections, data requirements, and Level of Development (LOD) 300-400 specs.
  • Verify that “as-built” conditions are accurately reflected for seamless integration into our facilities management systems.
  • Ensure “Model Health” (clean work sets, proper shared coordinates, and minimal warnings) to prevent data corruption.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for Designers and General Contractors.
  • Administer the Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) environment, ensuring the “Single Source of Truth” is maintained and accessible.

Coordinate with DOA/P&D Engineering and Sr. Management

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

This is a partial listing of necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job successfully, it is not an exhaustive list.

  • Strong understanding of BIM processes, 3D/4D/5D modeling and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk, Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and associated design tools.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the ISO 19650 series (specifically Parts 1 & 2) regarding the organization and digitization of information about building and civil Engineering works.
  • Power user of Autodesk Construction Cloud (Design Collaboration, Model Coordination, and build)
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and coordination software like Revizto or BIM track.
  • Strong coordination, communication and leadership skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or comparable field of study.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in BIM/VDC roles (Aviation, Healthcare, or Data Centers).
  • Experience with cloud-based collaboration tools and data management.
  • Familiarity with construction project management processes and software.

Preferred Requirements

  • BIM certification (e.g. Autodesk Certified Professional) is a plus.
