Position – Aircraft Painter / Prep Technician

Location: Macon, GA

We are currently seeking experienced Aircraft Painters and Prep Technicians to support aircraft paint operations in Macon, GA.

This position will support aircraft surface preparation, painting, polishing, and finishing work while maintaining high standards for quality, safety, and workmanship.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting, including cleaning, masking, sanding, and stripping
  • Apply primer, paint, stripes, logos, and other aircraft exterior finishes
  • Mix and apply coatings in accordance with applicable procedures and specifications
  • Polish aircraft surfaces and completed finishes
  • Identify and repair minor paint defects and cosmetic discrepancies
  • Inspect completed work for appearance and workmanship
  • Use applicable hand tools, power tools, and aircraft paint equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the maintenance and paint team
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment

Summary of Education, Experience and Certification

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Aircraft painting, preparation, or related refinishing experience preferred
  • Experience with aircraft surface preparation, masking, stripping, painting, or polishing preferred
  • Must be available to work day or night shift, including weekends as required

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of aircraft surface preparation and paint application practices
  • Ability to clean, mask, sand, strip, prime, paint, and polish aircraft surfaces
  • Experience using applicable paint, preparation, and finishing equipment
  • Ability to identify and correct paint and cosmetic defects
  • Strong attention to detail and quality workmanship
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work 10-hour shifts and overtime as required

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The employee will work in aircraft hangar and paint environments and may be exposed to materials and conditions commonly associated with aircraft painting.

The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods and frequently climb, bend, reach, turn, and work in various physical positions throughout the shift.

Eligible GAL AeroStaff contract employees may receive:
