The Aircraft Mechanic III leads a team in the performance of aircraft maintenance, inspections, and scheduled / unscheduled maintenance. The Aircraft Mechanic III must be capable of performing, supervising and inspecting the duties of Mechanic Is, IIs and IIIs.
Maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures, structural components and engines of complex to extreme difficulty, maintains and repairs aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems and mechanical components.
Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies technical expertise in restoring equipment condition and operation.
Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as blueprints or manufactures' manuals.
50% of the  Aircraft Mechanic III’s will be designated with the following collateral duties: Quality Assurance Representatives (QARs); a Technical Directive Compliance Coordinator; a Support Equipment/Individual Material Readiness List (IMRL) Coordinator; and a Tool Control Supervisor (will work directly for the site AMO and complete tool control tasking for the site MAG).
Other duties as identified and assigned.
Qualifications Required Education and Experience
Processes the technical experience to supervise subordinate mechanics and provide technical guidance on maintenance operations on the airframe being supported.
Requires a thoroughly comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting/repair procedures and replacement of components, a thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modification and repair and the ability to determine functionality of non-complex electrical systems.
Detailed knowledge of acquiring and utilizing aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, cable tensiometers, sheet metal brakes and sheers, engine and aircraft support equipment, etc. is required.
Must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support to structural/mechanical engineers and customers alike, must possess excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule.
At least 50% of the Aircraft Mechanic III's shall be previously qualified with OPNAVINST 4790 Collateral Duty/ Quality Assurance Representative (CD/QAR) AH-1Z & UH-1Y designation for their DOL Skill and shall be redesignated within 90 days of hire date.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Forklift certification (as required).
May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Required to make entries in aircraft logs and records and is responsible for providing guidance and technical expertise to lower-level technicians throughout all aircraft modifications and/or maintenance efforts.
Security Responsibilities
Eligible and obtain (if required) a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures.
May be responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials. Employee shall not divulge any information, or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know authorization. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. Will be required to execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex words and technical documents/diagrams.
Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing and work effectively as part of a team.
Reasoning Ability and Mathematical Skills
Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

May be exposed to conditions of extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
