Aircraft Maintenance Technician (Pathway Route to Aero Programme)

If so, then Boeing Defence UK is offering an exciting and challenging opportunity to join our bespoke ‘Boeing Aircraft Maintenance Technician Pathway Route to Aero Programme’.

This 18 month programme is aimed at developing highly motivated individuals into professional Aircraft Maintainers and assist in the delivery of a world-class engineering maintenance operation across our various sites within the UK.

Boeing in the UK provides aircraft maintenance services to various customers in both the commercial and defence sectors. During this programme successful candidates will gain both theoretical and practical experience of maintaining aircraft on one of our rotary wing platforms, the Apache helicopter. This programme will be located at AAC Middle Wallop.

We are looking for candidates with mechanical or electrical maintenance experience who will study towards the completion of their Aviation Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship standard. During the Programme, candidates will have the opportunity be trained in all disciplines (airframe, propulsion and avionics) of rotary aircraft maintenance.

Training Programme Format

18 month programme – 3 months at CEMAST College, Fareham. Remainder on the job training.

Tasks you will carry out:

• Perform routine scheduled aircraft maintenance and checks.
• Perform unscheduled defect rectification.
• Perform aircraft modifications.
• Use and follow approved maintenance documentation.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Work to given time scales.
• Work alongside skilled engineers to provide you with the knowledge needed to become fully trained.
• You will also be expected to respond quickly to changing demands throughout your working day.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Fluent written and spoken English
• 3+ years of experience in a dedicated engineering role
• Recognised engineering apprenticeship (non-aerospace) or Nationally Recognised Engineering qualification (non-aerospace)
• 5+ years of UK residency to gain/hold UK Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• 5+ years’ experience
• Proficient in using hand tools
• Electrical Wiring Installation/Repair Experience
• 5 GCSEs to include Maths and English

Typical Education & Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through working a hands-on engineering role in either manufacturing or maintenance.
