This role may also be known as: Aircraft Maintenance Technician, Aviation Maintenance Engineer, AME-M, Heavy Aircraft Maintenance Technician
You've spent years building your hands-on trade. This is a chance to put that experience somewhere it actually keeps growing. You'd be joining a unionized production team performing full A through E heavy maintenance checks on fixed-wing military aircraft, working inside a defined crew alongside apprentices, senior engineers, crew leads, and supervisors. Pay here isn't flat — it climbs with your experience up to the seven year mark, with a guaranteed increase every March and a level increase after your first year on the job.
This isn't a shop where you clock in, do a task, and clock out unnoticed. Crews are built around technical expertise, and there's a real structure to move from apprentice through crew lead, senior crew lead, and into supervisor and manager roles over time. You'll also have access to an Approved Training Organization for ongoing type training, so your skill set keeps expanding rather than plateauing.
What separates this from a typical maintenance shop posting is the scale and stability behind it. This is a long-running, high-volume MRO operation, over 300 production staff across planning, painting, and maintenance, working aircraft that stay in shop 100+ days for full heavy checks. That means deep, sustained technical exposure rather than quick turnarounds, plus genuine leadership access since crews report up through a full supervisory structure.
