Job Description

Joby Aviation is looking for talented mechanics, technicians, and fabricators to join our Final Integration and Assembly team. In this role, you will be trained to assemble all the parts, components, harnesses, avionics, interiors, landing gear, and systems into the final aircraft needed to prepare it for flight. Responsibilities

  • Perform final mechanical, electrical, and structural integration and assembly of aircraft systems, including avionics, harnesses, interiors, and landing gear

  • Read, interpret, and execute build plans using complex engineering drawings, schematics, and work instructions

  • Conduct pre-inspections of integrated assemblies to verify structural and system integrity prior to submitting work for final quality assurance inspection

  • Perform system testing, basic troubleshooting, and verification of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components

  • Collaborate closely with engineering and quality teams to support the transition of components from research & development to flight-worthy production parts

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace while documenting assembly steps and quality metrics in accordance with company manufacturing standards

Required

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent relevant work experience

  • At least 2+ years of hands-on experience in aviation, aerospace, automotive, or R&D mechanical systems, including a solid general knowledge of vehicle assembly, maintenance, and repair

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and work instructions

  • Familiarity with standard aircraft hardware, fasteners, torque values, and safety-wiring techniques

  • Experience working within robust quality assurance processes, with a demonstrated ability to identify high-quality work and pre-inspect assembly steps

  • Familiarity with and ability to identify all key components needed for complete mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies

  • Understanding of the different requirements for producing both flight-worthy production parts and research & development parts, respectively

  • Proven ability to work independently and multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment

  • Advanced understanding of production processes, test equipment, and hand/power tools

Desired

  • Associate's or higher technical degree
  • Ability to act as a mentor, trainer, or advisor to other technicians utilizing gained expertise (Highly desired for S3-level applicants)
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) rating
  • FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) rating
  • Pilots license

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $25-$39/hour. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
