The Composite Technician is responsible for the repair, fabrication, and assembly of composite and bonded aircraft components. This includes structures made from fiberglass, carbon fiber, and other advanced composite materials. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to FAA-approved data, and a commitment to quality standards set by AerSale and our OEM partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Inspect, repair, and fabricate composite components in accordance with manufacturer manuals and approved engineering data.
Perform lay-up, vacuum bagging, curing, trimming, and finishing of composite parts.
Prepare and bond materials such as fiberglass, carbon fiber, honeycomb core, and adhesives.
Utilize hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring equipment for repair and assembly work.
Mix and apply resins, adhesives, and fillers following proper ratios and procedures.
Conduct damage assessments and execute structural repairs on flight control surfaces, nacelles, cowlings, and fairings.
Maintain accurate documentation of all work performed per FAA and company standards.
Work closely with Quality Control and Engineering teams to ensure compliance and airworthiness.
Follow all safety and environmental protocols for handling chemicals and composites.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of experience in aircraft composite repair and fabrication (Part 145 repair station experience preferred).
Knowledge of composite repair techniques, materials, and curing processes.
Familiarity with OEM manuals (Boeing, Airbus, Embraer, etc.) and FAA repair procedures.
Ability to interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings.
Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Must be able to work in hangar and shop environments, occasionally on or around aircraft.
Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in varying temperature environments.
Must be comfortable working with resins, solvents, and other chemical agents using appropriate PPE.
Must be authorized to work in the USA.
