FT / PT Status – Full-Time

Benefits Eligibility – This position is eligible for a full benefits package.

Salary – $26.61 - $55.36 Hourly Wage

The Department of Environmental Quality seeks an Environmental Engineer to serve as a Permit Engineer within the Division of Air Quality. This position may be filled at any of the advertised levels listed below. Final salary determination will depend on the candidate's qualifications, the assigned level within the job series, and the departmental budget.

Key Responsibilities

Writing permits for sources of air pollution.Reviewing permit applications, including emission calculations.Assisting sources and the public with questions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering (Civil, Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, or a related field) from an ABET-accredited institution.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications: Professional Engineering License.Environmental permitting experience. Ability to read, understand and implement federal and state environmental rules and regulations.Supplemental Information:Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.

Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.

Job Series

The selected candidate for this position may be hired as an Environmental Engineer I with a salary range of $26.61 - $42.22 per hour, an Environmental Engineer II with a salary range of $31.33 - 49.69 per hour, or an Environmental Engineer III with a salary range of $34.91 - $55.36 per hour.
