Job Description

MX Air ATS is looking for an Air Operations Manager to lead day-to-day operations at the NLU hub, managing inbound and outbound air volume across sortation and flight preparation processes.
This role owns the flow of volume through the hub, ensuring inbound shipments are received and transferred into outbound flights within defined time windows. You will partner with airlines, ground handling providers, Ground teams to execute operations with precision, enabling reliable connectivity and consistent customer delivery speed.

Key job responsibilities
- Own end-to-end air operations at the NLU hub, managing inbound arrivals, sortation, and outbound flight preparation within defined time windows.
- Ensure compliance with safety and security standards, including air cargo handling procedures, screening requirements, and regulatory guidelines, maintaining a safe and controlled operating environment.
- Manage inbound volume processing, ensuring timely receipt, unloading, and induction of shipments.
- Ensure outbound flights are fully built and ready for departure, executing container build, staging, and dispatch processes aligned with flight schedules.
- Control sortation flow and throughput, maintaining continuous movement of volume from inbound to outbound while optimizing dwell time.
- Partner with airlines and ground handling providers to ensure alignment on inbound arrivals, load readiness, departure execution, and safety protocols.
- Coordinate with Air Hubs, Air Surface Transportation, Ground Transportation, AMZL Operations to ensure inbound and outbound flows are synchronized with network requirements.
- Monitor and drive performance metrics, including inbound processing time, dwell time, OTP, OTD, cost and compliance metrics.
- Lead real-time operational execution, balancing inbound and outbound priorities to maintain flow and schedule alignment.
- Drive continuous improvement in hub operations, standardizing processes, improving safety compliance
- Operate in a time-sensitive environment, requiring flexibility in working hours aligned with flight schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or peak periods.

A day in the life
You start the day reviewing inbound arrivals, sortation plans, and outbound flight schedules to ensure all flows are aligned. You coordinate with airlines, ground handling providers, Air Hubs, Surface Transportation to adjust execution across inbound and outbound operations. Throughout the shift, you oversee inbound unloading, manage sortation flow, and ensure outbound containers are built and staged on time for departure. You maintain continuous flow across the hub, ensuring operations meet safety and security standards while addressing congestion or misalignment. You track metrics such as inbound processing time, dwell, throughput, on-time departures, and cost to drive consistent execution.

About the team
MX Air ATS operates like a small airline within Amazon, building and managing a domestic air transportation network through a hybrid, multi-carrier model. The NLU Hub team runs daily air operations, managing inbound and outbound flows, sortation, and flight preparation across the network.
We operate in a fast-paced environment where execution precision, safety, and timing ensure flights depart as planned and volume reaches delivery stations on time. The team focuses on reliable execution, continuous improvement, and maintaining flow across air and ground operations.

Basic Qualifications


- 3+ years of employee and performance management experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Speak, write, and read fluently in English, and have the ability to take direction in English
- Experience with Air Gateway operations

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in operations management of fulfillment or distribution centers
- Experience in aviation regulatory compliance
- 7+ years of a combination of the following domains: corporate security management, transportation/supply chain operations or aviation security experience
- Knowledge of consumer product compliance processes and regulations
