Position – Aircraft Painter

Location: Mesa, AZ

We are currently seeking an experienced Aircraft Painter to support aircraft painting and finishing operations in Mesa, AZ.

This position is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing aircraft surfaces to achieve a smooth, durable, and high-quality finish. The ideal candidate will have previous painting experience and a strong understanding of aviation coatings, surface preparation, and finishing techniques.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare aircraft surfaces for painting through cleaning, sanding, masking, and priming
  • Apply paints, coatings, and finishes using spray guns, rollers, brushes, and other applicable equipment
  • Mix and prepare paint materials in accordance with applicable specifications and procedures
  • Inspect painted surfaces for bubbles, streaks, inconsistencies, and other finish defects
  • Correct paint and surface discrepancies as required
  • Operate spray booths, air compressors, and other specialized painting equipment
  • Read and follow technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions
  • Maintain and clean painting tools and equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of materials used and work completed
  • Assist with maintaining paint and material inventory as needed
  • Work collaboratively with other technicians to meet production and quality requirements
  • Follow established safety, environmental, and quality procedures

Summary of Education, Experience and Certification

High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Previous aircraft painting or related automotive or industrial painting experience required
  • Experience with aviation coatings and paint systems preferred
  • Aircraft painting or related certification preferred
  • Previous experience in an aircraft maintenance or repair environment preferred

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of aircraft surface preparation and painting practices
  • Ability to prepare, prime, paint, and finish aircraft surfaces
  • Experience using spray guns, paint equipment, and related tools
  • Ability to identify and correct surface and paint defects
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge of proper handling of paints, coatings, chemicals, and related materials
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a production environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The employee will work in aircraft hangar and paint environments and may be exposed to paint fumes, chemicals, noise, and conditions commonly associated with aircraft finishing operations.

The employee must be able to stand for extended periods and frequently bend, reach, and work in various physical positions throughout the shift. The position also requires the ability to lift and carry materials, tools, and equipment as needed.

Eligible GAL AeroStaff contract employees may receive:

  • Medical benefits after 90 days of employment
  • Three paid holidays per year after 90 days of employment: Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day
